Pleat is a small, independent retail outlet, situated in the South West Scottish fishing village of Kirkcudbright. Opened in 2009, its aim is to provide grown-up, modern daywear for women. Fashion + Art
Clothing and accessories: We pride ourselves on cutting-edge styling, relaxed, practical separates and an ability to lift the most mundane wardrobe with a well-chosen accessory or two…
We value cut, fabric, performance and the 'wearability' of our chosen pieces and can offer practical solutions for women who feel the need to update rather than reform.
We stock a surprising number of independent labels from Danish Peppercorn to Scottish Lochcarron, Kearse & Boys and Saltire knits, whilst 'The Made in Italy' range provides cutting edge fashion for sizes 14 - 20. We look for the unusual and the well-made; modern classics with traditional materials and small-scale manufacture.
Pleat + Paintings
In 2012 (May - September) Broughton House, Kirkcudbright, Sunny had her first solo exhibition "Dancers Don't Draw", showing a series of Galloway paintings in pencil and watercolour.
Since that date we have sold her work in the shop but now have much more of a dedicated area of framed works, prints and cards to browse alongside our fashion.
Original paintings from £165, prints from £30.
We are open all year, Monday to Saturday 11am - 5pm and closed on Tuesdays, please check the page for any updates or seasonal changes.

Our Bestseller 2-pocket slouch tops are back in....hiding a multitude of sins, they look great with leggings and slouchy trousers. Winter hours: We are now open 3 x days p/w, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11-5pm and will be running promotions each month! X
