Over the past twenty years, Phasels Wood has been at the forefront of introducing outdoor activities that are challenging, enjoyable and exciting. Our activities are available to book all year round including Monday – Saturday evenings from 1st April – 30th September, and Friday evenings 1st October – 31st March. All activities carried out at Phasels Wood must conform to policy, organisation and rules (POR). All activities involve risks of some kind, but with good training, proper equipment and responsible leadership, these risks can be minimised to provide adventure and fun for everyone.
Phasels Activity Instructors are available from 9am to 5pm during weekdays and at weekends, and may also be booked at other times by arrangement. There are also a number of self supervised activites available on site.
The accommodation buildings offer a chance for groups of varying sizes to enjoy an indoor camp. The Cedars, Rowan Lodge and Avenue Lodge are equipped with bunk beds, tables and chairs and stainless steel kitchen units. The decor is minimalistic so that each group can feel it is home from home, with room for all it's own equipment.

facebook.comCHILTERN CHALLENGE UPDATE: Event update at 20:00 Friday 2nd March, from the Chiltern Challenge Team… It is with regret that we have to inform you that we have taken the decision to postpone this weekend’s Chiltern Challenge event. Whilst we are ready to run the event, and the site has made provision to cover us for the weather, the current deteriorating conditions on the local road network have led us to make this decision. As it stands, with parts of the road network around the site having been closed by Hertfordshire Highways, we believe we cannot assure the safe arrival of teams and do not want to expose leaders and parents to any unnecessary risk during their journeys to Phasels Wood. As many teams will be setting off early tomorrow morning, we believe it safest to make this decision tonight. I am sure you are as disappointed as we are, and the team are currently looking at options for running the Challenge at a later date and will be in contact within the next week to update you.
CHILTERN CHALLENGE 2018: Chiltern Challenge is still going ahead this weekend. We are currently assessing the situation and are making plans accordingly. Registration tomorrow will be open from 9:00-11:00 to allow teams extra flexibility of arrival time. We have put in place measures to ensure hot drinks and indoor warm spaces are available for all participants throughout the weekend. We have already made changes to the challenges to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety. Please remind everyone to bring additional layers, we suggest that leaders bring spare kit/equipment just in case. All traffic must arrive via the A41 entrance, please be patient on arrival. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and joining us for the excitement of celebrating 40 years of Chiltern Challenge!
CHILTERN CHALLENGE 2018: At present we have minimal snow and everything is set to continue as originally planned. We do have plans for keeping everyone warm both throughout the day and night however it is difficult to say exactly what the plan of action will be as this is constantly changing based on the current weather situation. The competition will still take place.
The Beavers on today’s Badge Day have completed sections 1, 2 & 3 of their My Adventure Challenge Award Badge, this included trying the Cresta Run, Pedal Racers, Shelter Building and lots more!
Well done to all the Cubs who achieved their Stage 1 Navigator Badge at today’s Badge Day!
