All this week East Ayrshire Council are clearing dropped litter and fly tipped rubbish as part of the Spring Clean Campaign. In support of this campaign our enforcement officers will be in these areas and fines will be issued for dog fouling, littering and fly tipping. On the first day of action yesterday 3 notices were served by the enforcement team.
This week our Officers received a complaint of fly tipping in the area of Farrell Crescent, Drongan. On investigation, details of the offender were found and a £200 Fixed Penalty Notice has been issued. Please remember it is a criminal offence to dump your waste and the maximum fine can be up to £40,000. To report fly tipping contact us on 01563 553520.
Our officers have been working across East Ayrshire in partnership with Police Scotland, like here in Stewarton, specifically to tackle dog fouling. Next week sees the start of Spring Clean week where again our officers will be in our towns and villages supporting colleagues from Outdoor Services. Please be responsible for your litter and tidy up after your dog.
The A76 is currently being cleared of the large volumes of litter that have been thrown by people from their motor vehicles. Please take your litter home with you and keep the roadsides litter free. Offenders can be issued £80 to £200 fines and if reported to the Procurator Fiscal a fine of up to £2500 can be imposed.
In the last few days a number of offenders have been detected after committing fly tipping offences. Each person has recieved a £200 Fixed Penalty Notice for dumping rubbish within East Ayrshire. If unpaid an offender can face a fine of up to £40000 in Court. Please be responsible for your waste.
This week Officers from the Corporate Enforcement Unit will be working alongside colleagues from Outdoor Amenities, Licensing and Police Scotland. Together they will be tackling smoking and littering offences in town centres across East Ayrshire. Officers will take enforcement action for any offences witnessed including smoking in commercial premises and commercial vehicles. Please remember that both Kilmarnock and Cumnock Bus Stations are smoke free!
After a recent number of complaints about dog fouling on and around countryside and agricultural land, our officers are working in a variety of locations across East Ayrshire. Failing to remove dog mess is an offence and even extends to farmer's fields, woodlands and country path networks. Please be responsible and take all litter and dog foul home with you after your walk so that everyone may enjoy the countryside and livestock remain healthy.
In the run up to Christmas some people have been having a clear out and dumped their rubbish. In a spate of similar cases across East Ayrshire this month the CEU has issued multiple fines and reported offenders for prosecution to the Procurator Fiscal. In each case the waste could have been taken for free to a civic amenity site, instead the offenders face a fine of anywhere between £200 and £40,000.
On this occasion a resident had paid a third party to remove the waste. The waste was removed by the third party and dumped a short distance away from the residents property. As the resident could not provide details of the third party, enforcement action was taken against the resident. Please remember it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your waste is disposed of correctly, be responsible by checking that they have a waste carrier license to dispose of your waste correctly, keep a note of the details of the third party such as name, contact number and registration number of the vehicle used to remove the waste.
A beautiful day for a walk in Annanhill Park. Unfortunately one dog walker was witnessed failing to remove the mess left by their dog and the owner has been fined £80 this morning.
Not all our officers wear bright yellow jackets while working in the dark nights to detect and deter dog fouling. Please be responsible and remove your dog's mess to avoid a fine or report to the Procurator Fiscal.
