Well, that is the fund-raising effort over for Daniel and us. I am delighted to announce that thanks to the generosity of all our friends and supporters Daniel will be able to donate £3,000 to Philanjalo. Thank you to the purchaser of the two lambs (who wishes to remain anonymous) who paid £600 for them and to Chloe Shaw of Mildene Nurseries who has given the whole £600 back to the charity. We are so grateful to you all, it is amazing and beyond words how much this has meant to Daniel to be able to do this much for the children at Philanjalo and for his school in which he has such pride. SILENT AUCTION Mrs Chloe Shaw of Mildene Garden Nurseries won the two Zwartbles lambs in our charity draw. Amazingly she has offered the sheep back to us to be auctioned to raise more money for the charity. If you would like to bid on these two ewe lambs please PM or email with your offer and I will keep you appraised of the top bid. These are two registered, MV accredited Zwartbles ewe lambs. Elsa is a very nice lamb; her blaze is off to one side and one foot does not have a sock. Ebony is a very strong lamb, very well covered and marked, but sadly she is going prematurely grey. These lambs will go to the highest bidder, over the reserve of £150 which we can achieve at Worcester Market if we don’t get any bidders. Bidding will close at 10pm on Sunday 17th September. Dear Friends, We have had an email from Abberley Hall Deputy Headmaster Nigel Richardson to say that at the draw today the winning ticket was Number 118. Another great day for Beech Hay Zwartbles at McCartneys Worcester ZSA Sale. Beech Hay Elegance topped the sale with a bid of 2000gns. Beech Hay Elysium, 1st Ewe Lamb and sold 600gns Beech Hay Emerald, 3rd Ewe Lamb available for sale from home.

We are still trying to get as much money in as possible. We are hoping that those who haven’t had time to send the money will soon. The deadline is approaching fast. Abberley has created strong links over the years with Philanjalo, a care centre in Kwazulu-Natal. Visiting the centre is always a high point of the trip to the South Africa. The centre is badly in need of support. Previous fund raising has helped with wheelchairs (costing £50) for its patients and for "ripple beds" which prevent bedsores for those being treated for TB. The visit to the centre is always an emotional one for the Abberley children. The experience is amplified if they are able to contribute to the centre with funds that they have personally raised. Daniel and other children at Abberley will have the opportunity to give the centre the funds they have raised when they visit in April. £20 gives you the chance of winning two registered Zwartbles lambs, or us selling them for you, or the lamb for your deep-freeze. Congratulations to Steph Bower on her wins at Burwarton Show. First with her ewe lamb which went on the be Champion Zwartbles against all the adults and then Reserve Champion with her ram lamb Beech Hay Esquire. Born 21st January, this ram lamb was by a Royal Welsh Champion out of a Royal Welsh Champion - bred to win and superbly produced by Steph. Well done and good luck with the 2018 lambings.
