Beech Buddies Childcare
Description
Beech Buddies is a private childcare setting based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Run by myself, Tegan Halfpenny, caring for babies and children. My name is Tegan and I run Beech Buddies Childcare which is a private OFSTED registered, childcare setting for babies and children based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
I have many years of experience caring for children alongside my role as Mommy to my son Maximus.
My nursery nurse career started when I took the job of a cook at a nursery and realised I loved spending more time out of the kitchen with the children than in it. Since then I've worked in two nurseries and a secondary school, steadily gaining experience and qualifications along the way;
I am NVQ Level 3 qualified in Children's Care, Learning and Development as well as holding an NVQ Level 1 from British Gymnastics, another passion of mine. Alongside these I also have a current Paediatric First Aid qualification, a Warwickshire County Council approved Childminding qualification, Child Protection Level 1 qualification and a Level 2 qualification in Food Safety.
My daily mission is that every child who spends time in our home feels safe, has fun and can't wait to come back. I live with my husband Chris, our son Maximus and my brother Dylan. Both my husband and brother hold current DBS checks and are amazingly supportive of what I do, and without them many of the play areas in our home and garden wouldn't have been created. We also share our home with our dog Carla, she's a labrador/boxer and spends most of her days snoozing in-between seeing off the pigeons who dare to land in our garden.
As a family we try and lead a healthy lifestyle and a hugely important part of that is eating well. All the meals and snacks I serve are full of the right nutrition and made specifically so your little ones, and mine, feel full and re-fuelled ready to get back to the serious business of play!
My current hours are posted above but I understand the need to be flexible so please feel free to ask for an earlier start, a later finish or half days.
I work out my prices at an hourly rate of £4.25 (April 2014) which includes all snacks, meals, drinks and everything involved in having fun and being creative.

A few weeks ago I had the honour of meeting and spending time with some of Zimbabwe's sweetest young people, thriving at an amazing school, Kubatana Kids. The school is run by Jess Lovemore and her two fantastic teachers, alongside volunteer Noele Mclennan who showed me the ropes on my visits (thank you!) I walked away from my time there inspired- the school have a great learning space and mindset to make the most of every resource, but as any one in Zimbabwe will know, things are a little tricky to say the least and 'making a plan' has never become more creative...and well, tough. Liaising closely with Jess, I plan to collect any resources I feel would benefit the school here and will ask any returning Zim friends to help out with getting it to the lovely children and teachers at Kubatana . A drop in the ocean but a personal one- as a child lucky enough to be brought up in a place as unique as Zimbabwe to give a little back to the future generation is an amazing opportunity, one I know will matter to those involved hugely- they are moulding that future as I type.
