Well done to all that competed at the North West Age Bands competition this weekend. All fought very well: Ella who won bronze, Connor who also won bronze, Will Stables who one Gold. Well done to Lukas, Oliver, Henry and Amelia who all had some tough contests but were unlucky on the day. If anybody has any pictures then please send them over and I will add them to the page.

Well done to the Huddersfield Judo Club Kids today who took part in the Competition at Hebden Bridge with everyone coming away with a Medal. Great performances by Elliot, Jarod, Dean, Josh and Matthew.

A great day for Huddersfield Judo Club at the West Yorkshire Championships the results being: Lukas - Gold Shannon - Gold Oliver - Gold Lewis - Gold Josh - Silver Will - Silver Ella - Bronze Finn - Bronze If I have missed a result then please let me know and I will add it. But Well done everyone it takes a lot of guts to get on that Mat and we are all proud of you.

We would like to give a massive well done to the Huddersfield Pre-Cadets, Cadets and Juniors who competed in the British Championships over the past couple of weekends, each one fought with courage and respect. A big well done also goes to Spencer Lambert who has qualified for the British National Squad off the back of his outstanding performance at the event. Well done everyone.

Yesterday was a sad day as we said goodbye to Len Penistone, the last surviving founding member of Huddersfield Judo Club. He was there at the start of the club back in 1953. We owe such a lot to these early pioneers who adopted this new mystical marital art and help judo develop into the Olympic sport we know today. Initially Len practiced on a solid wooden floor then progressed onto sawdust covered with wagon tarpaulin; theses early pioneers were hardy individuals. Len was 94 when he died and led full and active life, the picture is of Len with me at our 60th Anniversary celebration in August 2013. I would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for all you have done for our club. Gordon Lambert.

Hi to all Huddersfield Judo Club members, We will be holding our AGM on Friday 1st April at 7pm at Huddersfield Sports Centre, meeting outside the Combat Room.
