They say that when explosive natural ability collides with fiery, emotionally charged compositions, the result is Aynsley Lister – and you can experience his power and passion on 21 July 2018 at The Meeting Room Elland – close up and personal at this unique and accessible local venue with a lively atmosphere and great acoustics! With over 100,000 albums sold, lashings of critical acclaim and years of high profile touring, Lister’s resumé speaks for itself and firmly secures his position as a leading light in the resurgence of British blues-infused music. He’s the only British artist to be named in Classic Rock magazine’s “Top 10 Contemporary Blues Artists”, alongside John Mayer and Joe Bonamassa. Aynsley’s an incredible guitarist whose brand of blues-based rock delivers contemporary song writing fuelled with real heart and soul. Whether passionately writing and recording his own material or mesmerizing audiences at his live shows, one thing is abundantly clear: music is hard-wired to his DNA and flows from his fingertips like sonic bolts of lightning! Blazing a trail in a bar band from the age of 13 honed his skills, whilst his dynamite live shows and intense touring schedule have earned him high profile support slots with established artists like Walter Trout, John Mayall and Robert Cray, with rousing festival appearances alongside artists like the Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Firmly rooted in the blues, his work transcends the genre with a fiery modern sound – don’t miss out on this gig, secure your tickets now.
Elles Bailey has a talent for crafting and seamlessly weaving rootsy blues, country, and soulful rock, with a contemporary edge. What’s more fate has blessed her with a ‘smoky vocal’ style that perfectly fits her music, after a stint in hospital as a child changed her voice forever. Her debut album Wildfire (Sept 1st 2017) which debuted at no.2 in the iTunes blues Charts was produced by Brad Nowell and assembled a host of some of the worlds finest musicians, including Grammy Award winning guitarist Brent Mason and three-time ‘Musician Hall Of Famer’ Bobby Wood. Blended together with the likes of Jonny Henderson (Robyn Ford, Matt Schofield) on Hammond organ and Joe Wilkins on blistering guitar, the result is a unique trans-Atlantic coming together of styles. Reviewers have been wowed by Elles and her debut album with Maverick Magazine gave ‘Wildfire’ top marks (5/5) calling every song ‘Fresh & Original’ And Blues In Britain reminding us that ‘It’s a fact that very few make it to the big stage but Elles Bailey has the necessary talent, the drive, and now the product.’ 2018 starts with a bang with Elles playing the 100 club, London with The Climax Blues Band on the 17th January then heading north to play The Great British Rock & Blues Festival in Skegness before embarking on a European tour throughout March & April, May & June. “Every Song is Fresh and Original - 5/5*” - Maverick Magazine "It’s a fact that very few make it to the big stage; Elles Bailey has the necessary talent, the drive, and now (with the release of album Wildfire) the product" - Blues in Britain “Wildfire - A Scorching Debut Album” Blues Matters “One of the Best Of British Albums of the year” Country Music Magazine "A childhood illness gave her a remarkable tool and she uses it to its very best effect. One of the best things I've heard" Music News "A Young woman blessed with an incredible voice" Powerplay Magazine "A hugely impressive debut album" Dancingaboutarchitecture “So, to sum up, not just a very impressive debut album from Elles Bailey, a very impressive album full stop. FATEA "With Shades of the late Dusty Springfield... A genuine triumph / wonderful offering" Elmore Magazine
Paying their second visit to The Meeting Room Elland on 26 May 2018 are Gerry Jablonski and the Electric Band – a four piece blues rock powerhouse with a reputation for winning over their audiences with their rollercoaster ride of original music that pays tribute to the blues rock classics that have influenced this band. Gerry Jablonski & The Electric Band fly the flag for a rich Scottish blues heritage that goes back to the likes of Jack Bruce, Maggie Bell’s Stone The Crows, Frankie Miller, Big George & The Business, Tam White, Blues ‘n’ Trouble, and more recently The Nimmo Brothers, Lewis Hamilton, Dana Dixon and Dave Acari. Packing killer riffs and striking solos, Jablonski and his explosive band redefine rock blues on their own terms. Gerry is master guitarist with the well honed stagecraft of a seasoned performer. Blending blues roots with the influences of Classic Rock, Gerry and the boys make this a blistering powerhouse of a British Blues band. Over the last five years, guitarist Jablonski and his band have honed their own signature sound, full of brusque harp-led note flurries and plenty of light and shade with imposing guitar resolutions over a rock solid rhythm section. They’ve released three albums to date, all included in Classic Rock blues magazine top albums of the year, and have enjoyed airplay on BBC Radio 2 Paul Jones Blues Show. They’ve toured in Poland, Holland, Germany and Norway and played all the major UK blues festivals. The band take no prisoners, reeling in the audience and giving off so much energy the crowd have no choice but to bathe in the reflected glory of four musicians letting it rip and giving their heart and soul to the performance. There are no airs or graces or niceties – gutsy rock n roll and with memorable melodies, sweet harmonies and a powerhouse rhythm section – an absolutely refreshing and life affirming experience that only a truly phenomenal performance can bring. Check out scintillating rock and blues from Scotland’s premiere live band at The Meeting Room Elland.
Marked for greatness from an early age by Blues behemoth Walter Trout, Mitch Laddie has been honing his virtuoso guitar playing on the big stage since being signed to Provogue Records at 17. Still in his twenties, he’s toured the UK and Europe and has a growing international fan base, marrying volcanic guitar with a pop sensibility style reminiscent of The Police. 28 April 2018 will be his fourth visit to The Meeting Room Elland showcasing his own brand of potent and soulful funk. He has now released three albums to critical acclaim, and is known throughout the European scene as a volcanic guitar genius with musical subtleties and a maturity far beyond his years. The band had the pleasure of being invited to be a part of “BluesFest” at the Royal Albert Hall, London in 2014, having their set recorded by the BBC and tracks played on Paul Jones’ BBC Radio 2 show, with Paul Jones describing Mitch as “the real deal.” Double trouble at The Meeting Room Elland with Paul Lamb Double trouble at The Meeting Room Elland — the Mitch Laddie Band will be supported by the inimitable Paul Lamb playing a solo acoustic set reflecting all the emotion of musical Detroit. Paul grew up in Detroit, listening to a mix of great rock radio like Bob Seger, Stevie Wonder, and George Clinton. As he began to play guitar his music drew from other outside influences like Hendrix and Stevie Ray. He cut his teeth in R&B and rock bands, developing his signature whiskey throttled voice and riff minded guitar, keeping it fresh and carrying the musical torch of for Detroit City at countless European festivals over the years. We’re fortunate to have secured Paul’s own brand of high energy, bone thumping groove for this special solo gig on 28 April. It’s already proving a popular pairing so secure your tickets today.
Back by popular demand on 24th March – don’t miss Sinnerboy’s third gig at The Meeting Room Elland! In 2000, Barry Barnes formed Sinnerboy to keep Rory Gallagher’s music alive, following his efforts to organise the first ever tribute concert to his lifelong hero on the first anniversary of his passing. Together with Dave Burns (bass) and Steve Richardson (drums) this band from North West England have a huge reputation for faithfully recapturing the sound and excitement of a live “Rory gig”. They have played a major role in promoting the revival of Rory’s music for the last thirteen years and apart from gigging extensively in the UK and Ireland, have headlined Rory Gallagher tribute events in England, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, Norway and the USA. Barry and the boys capture the music of Rory’s best loved songs – the last time they played The Meeting Room Elland they had the audience both young and old on their feet and shouting for more. You can expect superb renditions of classic Rory tracks and an electrifying atmosphere – if you’ve missed Sinnerboy playing here so far, then make sure you put that right on 24th March!
