Description

Suffolk based freelance amateur photography, specializing in horses and other animals . I take photos purely for fun and to gain more experience. I am not a professional photographer. All photos taken on a Cannon 600D and the older photos with a borrowed Nikon D3100. As much as possible I strive to upload unedited raw shots. I do have a few albums where work has been edited, but I will always state this in the album description. I like to work with animals and wildlife but I like to dabble with other subject matters.

Before And After - The power of editing

When you book a shoot with Hester Kemp Photography, you're not just paying for the photo shoot itself. A lot of work goes into all my photos post photo shoot. This album has just a few examples of the sort of techniques I use to edit all my photos.

Always fun to use new actions on old photos....It's the little things that make the difference. Editing is half the work!

About two or three years ago I took a very similar photo to this with a poor unsuspecting friend who knew not how shoddy my photography and editing skills were at the time. Needless to say I did not flatter her with my lack of expertise and while enhancing her beautiful eyes I managed to enhance her skin cells... yes that's right... cells. The level of detail was unreal, and not particularly beautiful. A few years and a lot of lessons learnt later, and I think I'm closer to the type of shot I wanted to achieve back then. Thank you Emma for letting me have another go!

George is one of those horses that owes the world nothing. He's taught so many people to ride over the years, he's given so much enjoyment to everyone that has spent time with him, and helped many others with their confidence. Over the years he's taught novices to walk, trot, canter and jump. To kick on when he tries to stop for a lazy fake pee stop, to give a little tug when he gets his nose to the grass, and to ride him forward into a fence. He's honest, dependable and he may not be the fastest, or the most well bred, but he's the sort of horse you'd re-mortgage your house to own a share in one of his hooves! I was lucky enough to work with and ride this fellow, quite a few years ago when I was just starting out in this industry, and I can honestly say I've never met another horse quite like him.

Another sneak peak at my shoot at Somerleyton on Friday.... This one might not be to everyone's tastes, but I just love moments like these.

Last photo of little Sally. By the end of our photoshoot Sally had learnt how to sit, but not without some trial and error (and a handful of pony nuts as enticement!)
