Hi, my name is Emma and i am a part time Animal Nursing Assistant (ANA) at Wolds Veterinary Clinic. I qualified as a professional dog groomer in 2016 and i also worked as an Animal Nursing Assistant as a second job and i fell in love with it! I have been an ANA for 3 years now. My passion and interest is caring for all animals but have a special interest in dogs in particular. Working at Wolds Vets has given me the passion, drive and confidence to set up my own dog grooming business and have received lots of support from the team at Wolds Vets to achieve my goals. I have two dogs at home - Rolo a beautiful Newfoundland and Oreo a very naughty Cocker Spaniel! I spend most of my spare time going on country walks with my dogs and travelling the country attending grooming competitions where i have had recent success.
"Hi, my name is Katie and i am a Receptionist here at Wolds Veterinary Clinic. I used to work at a haulage company where i completed my apprenticeship in business administration but recently switched to a veterinary practice as i love animals. I have two dogs - a mischievous Beagle named Dodger and an obedient Border Collie named Darcie who i love taking for long walks with my partner and my family, along with their dogs. I also have a friendly Gecko named Taz. I come from a family of animals lovers and have grown up with pets all my life. My favourite part of this job is seeing all the cute animals that come here and finding out all about them from their owners."
As Spring has arrived and the temperatures start to warm up a little, our attentions may turn to treating our pet for fleas. Permethrin is a commonly used insecticide that can be found in many flea treatments bought in supermarkets, garden centres and pet shops and is safe around most animals, but cats are much more sensitive to this chemical than other animals and it is poisonous to them. Concentrated Permethrin-containing spot-on products are used to control fleas in dogs. Unfortunately, it is these products that are often responsible for poisoning cats when they are accidentally used on cats, or even when cats come into close contact with a dog who has recently been treated with the product. Symptoms of permethrin poisoning can be life threatening and include severe muscle tremors and uncontrolled seizures. Up to 40% of affected cats may die or need to be euthanased. Prompt diagnosis and veterinary treatment is vital to alleviate suffering and increase the chances of survival. This video explains about Permethrin toxicity in cats. Awareness is key to prevention. If you would like any advice about fleas and flea treatments, please contact us, where we will be more than happy to help.

"Hi, i'm Steph and i'm a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Wolds Vet Clinic. These are my fur babies, Daisy the Beagle and Roxy the terrier, we also have Lily the cat and a human baby, 10 month old Harrison. I’ve been a Veterinary Nurse for 10 years and qualified for 8 years. I have also been qualified as a Clinical Coach in Veterinary Nursing for 3 years. What I like about Wolds Vets the most is the team, how everyone gets on really well and that we have a nice new building to work in. My areas of interest in particular are Laboratory work and Radiography. My hobbies are swimming, cycling and running which I do as much as i possibly can between work and being a mummy."
"Hi, I am Jo and I am Deputy Practice Manager. My love of animals lead me to want to work within a Veterinary Practice. I have worked in the veterinary industry for nearly 9 years now. I worked in several local practices, starting as a receptionist then onto administration before joining the Wolds team. The best part of my job at Wolds Vets is the team i work with as we are like a little (growing fast!) family! I have really enjoyed helping to set up the Clinic from the start and it's given me pride to say I work at Wolds Vets. I have a 2 year old daughter called Kaci who is animal crazy just like me. I have a French Bulldog called Darcy, two rottweilers Fletcher and Ozzy and two cats, Simba and Skunk. (Simba was my first fur baby) These all keep me busy in my spare time. If i could, i would add more pets to my crazy bunch! My bucket list is mostly related to animals - I would love to swim with sharks, turtles and dolphins in the wild. I also would love to jump out of a plane to help raise money for a charity!"
"Hi, my name is Ana and I am Head Veterinary Nurse at Wolds Vets. I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2007 with an upper 2nd class degree in Veterinary Nursing gaining me the post nominals Bsc (Hons) RVN. I am a Clinical Coach in Veterinary Nursing and have trained many students during my time in practice. It's rewarding to train and guide student Veterinary Nurses from enrolment through to qualification and it's an important role to the profession as a whole. I am a Diabetes Pet Advisor giving advice and support to owners with diabetic pets and i'm also currently studying towards a Vets Now Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care which finishes in September. I have worked in small animal veterinary practices for 12 years. I enjoy all aspects of nursing at Wolds and have a keen interest in Anaesthesia, Surgical Nursing, Medical Nursing and Emergency and Critical care. What I like most about working at Wolds is the high standard of care the whole team strives to deliver to the patients and their owners. I also enjoy the pleasant and friendly atmosphere amongst the staff and clients. Having an input into helping the practice grow and develop is great. Last but not least, i look forward to cake Friday!! I have two 10 year old cats - Mitten a calico tortoiseshell and white and Boots a tabby and white who I rescued as kittens. I also have a 10 year old very lovable border terrier cross called Buster who i rescued at 4 months old. When not at work, I enjoy playing netball in the Grimsby and District Senior Netball League, walking my dog, spending time with my family and the occasional bit of retail therapy!"
