The Halls catalogue arrived this morning and it’s time to think about dahlias for the garden/show bench. The two main suppliers that plot holders have used in the past tend are: https://www.hallsofheddon.com http://www.ridgeviewnursery.co.uk For all things dahlias, I would recommend that you join the National Dahlia Society Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/NationalDahliaSociety I have found this an invaluable source of information from selecting varieties, propagation, growing and showing, it’s all there.
Pepper (Chilli) Carolina Reaper Seeds from DT Brown Seeds
It’s that time of year again when the seed catalogues start to drop through the letter box and your thoughts turn to what to sow in spring. Well here a few ideas from the new DT Brown catalogue. If you like it hot why not try the Carolina Reaper Chilli seeds (at over 2.2 million scoville heat units units) http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Vegetable-Seeds-1/New-Vegetable-Seed/Pepper-Chilli-Carolina-Reaper-Seeds.html#.WGO0TVOLSUk Or why not try the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Red chilli seeds (only 2miliion SHU). http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Vegetable-Seeds-1/New-Vegetable-Seed/Pepper-Chilli-Trinidad-Moruga-Scorpion-Red-Seeds.html#.WGPLnlOLSUk Looking for something to add a bit of kick to a salad then why not try sowing Rocket Wasabi http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Vegetable-Seeds-1/Rocket_3/Rocket-Wasabi-Veg-Seeds.html#.WGO04FOLSUk Why not try and grow a giant tomato this year with Tomato Gigantomo F1 seeds http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Vegetable-Seeds-1/New-Vegetable-Seed/Tomato-Gigantomo-F1-Veg-Seeds.html#.WGO0flOLSUk There were also lots of new flower seed this year and the Aster Balloon Mixed Flower Seed caught my eye. Should be good for both decorative beds and as a cut flower http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Flower-Seeds-1/New-to-DTB_2/Aster-Balloon-Mixed-Flower-Seeds.html#.WGO1mVOLSUk I think I will also try the new Coleus Chocolate Covered Cherry Flower Seeds look a good bet for our show bench. http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Flower-Seeds-1/New-to-DTB_2/Coleus-Chocolate-Covered-Cherry-Flower-Seeds.html#.WGPNnFOLSUk
