Breagha - walking together
John was working with Breagha and Fiona yesterday. A really lovely session. We were concentrating on Fiona's lead handling, working on making it more sympathetic to Breagha. We are also working on the cues for walking together, which are given by the change of the lead position, and the movement of Fiona's feet rather than verbal cues. Breagha is also learning to discern what is relevant under these conditions as she is very motivated by fast movement; bikes, scooters, dogs etc. She is learning that these reinforcers are not available to her under these conditions. An excellent session and a sunny day to boot.

Another great learning day at PEDT. Walking Together was the topic under discussion and next week we will be using the freedom field at The Dog Play Centre to hone some practical skills.

Last workshop in Seattle. Friday evening and Saturday, we discussed the skills and protocols of working with dogs with reactivity and aggression issues. A wonderful setting for Saturday's workshop at Pascale's Dog Ranch in Issaquah. A great end to the start of a great working relationship with Cristine, Sonja, Pascale and so many others.

Walking together - practical
Part 2 of the PEDT Walking Together program. Part 1 takes place on April 29th in East Kilbride Does your dog pull on the lead when you are out walking? Do you find you are sore after a walk from the constant pulling to sniff and greet other people and dogs? Are you having to use a variety of equipment such as harnesses and head collars to stop the pulling? If so, join us for an afternoon practical workshop which builds on the theory we covered on the 29th April https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/you-and-your-dog-walking-together-pedt-tickets-33371269365 So much of the time when out walking with your dog is spent with you and your dog at odds over what you both want from the time outdoors. Be examining why your dog pulls, what he is trying to get at by pulling and then understanding how to resolve it, you will be able to have a more comfortable walk with your dog. Both of you will then be able to get what you need from your time outside together. Positively Excellent Dog Trainers' workshops are interactive, where Clare and John will lead discussion and group activities to give attendees a greater understanding of how to resolve their dogs pulling in the lead. We look forward to seeing you there. You must have attended the thoery part of this course on the 29th April, or the Building a Dream Team with Your Dog workshop which took place on the 14th January Tickets are not refundable but are transferable.
