The Club Championship was held yesterday (16 September). The northerly wind was fickle; sometimes strong and always variable in direction. The four main races for the event were held out on the Skate Bank starting from around Mark E. The 4th race was a pursuit race which involved a staggered start (slower boats first) and a predetermined race finish time. Theory is that as long as boats sail to their published handicap they will all be bunched together at the finish. As luck would have it the positions at the finish were reasonable well spaced out allowing the final placings to be easily recorded. 2 races were held inshore near the harbour for the Cadets and despite the very fickle winds produced some close results involving tie breaks for first and second and for third and fourth places. The Campbell siblings were racing for the very first time and both did very well considering the conditions. The winners are listed on the attached picture and detailed results are published at http://www.chanonry.org.uk/2017.html - follow the links. Congratulation to them and thanks to everyone else tooking part. At the prize giving heartfelt thanks were expressed to Richard Evans, Mike WIlson, Tim Lloyd and Chrissie Lane for running the racing, and to Janet Witheridge for the much enjoyed catering.

You will be most welcome to take part in the Chanonry Sailing Club Annual Dinghy Regatta on the 5&6 August at Fortrose Harbour. The event is open to Skiff Classes with PY <=900 and Fast and Slow Handicap Dinghies. The split between Fast and Slow Handicap is likely to be around 1115. Musto Skiffs from across the UK will be competing for the Scottish Championship and we expect other skiffs such as RS800 to visit. We'd be delighted if friends from neighbouring clubs in the Highlands were able to visit. The poster attached gives brief details so see http://www.chanonry.org.uk/dinghy--skiff-regatta.html for full details and to enter. Looking forward to welcoming visitors and to showing off our excellent sailing and racing waters. Richard Evans, Sailing Secretary sailing@chanonry.org.uk
