Skeletos Pilates
Description
The original body conditioning system designed by Joseph Pilates translated into modern-day classes for REAL people with REAL bodies. A combination of strength and mobility moves to improve your posture, mobility, strength and general well-being. Welcome to Skeletos Pilates - a REALISTIC form of pilates run in small classes, by me, in Forres and Kinloss.
What? A body conditioning system developed over 80 years ago by Joseph Pilates, translated into modern-day classes providing a combination of strengthening and mobility moves that improve your posture, coordination, breathing and flexibility.
These classes are for REAL people with REAL bodies, high levels of fitness and flexibility are not a requirement. However, classes will enhance this whilst strengthening your ‘core muscles’ allowing you to train more effectively and prevent injury.
How? Small classes (no more than eight in a group) allow me to focus on ALL members, using the philosophy of Less is More, with an emphasis on Teaching the exercises as opposed to simply demonstrating them.
At first glance, Realistic Pilates may seem to be a gentle and easy form of exercise; however its combination of strengthening and mobility moves can create a very intense and highly beneficial workout.
Fact: As a result of continuing classes you will develop a stronger core, with improved breathing control, muscle balance and coordination; and feel rejuvenated and relaxed.

The last block of classes is drawing to a close ... summer holidays are nearly upon us, and even feels a little like summer finally! This week is the last week of the blocks you have paid for. However next week all classes will run as usual (Forres Tennis Club, Forres Community Centre x 2 and Kinloss Church) - just pay for the class if you come - £6.50. There will be no classes over the summer but I will endeavour to post some moves and motivation on here over the break to keep you mobile :-) It's been fabulous seeing some new faces over the last few blocks, been really lovely to see all the usual suspect too. Over the summer I am going to be doing an workshop on Pilates for our young people. So one of my projects for the new term will be to get a few sessions up and running for some pre-teens and teens to see what they think. Let me know if you think you might have one who would be interested in helping me out here. I am also going to be placing an order this weekend for some more foam rollers, small squishy balls and head blocks. If anyone would like me to order something for them to use at home then give me a shout and I can send you details and add your items to my order. And as a final note, any of you who've had a mad few weeks and not made classes this term, please feel free to come along next week if it fits and join in, just let me know if you are coming. Enjoy the sunshine :-) Fran

A few things of interest in this video clip ... obviously the main point is loosening of the hamstrings, but listen out for comments about the hip flexors and pelvis and upper body ... he speaks a little fast but you will get the general gist!!
Taking a wee midterm break this week, so there are no classes, but next week the Spring term starts with classes taking us through to the Easter break: A NEW Monday evening class is starting; it's an evening class, starting at the earlier time of 6.30-7.30pm. Other classes remain exactly the same. So the new Spring timetable will look like this: MONDAY - Forres Tennis Club, 6.30-7.30pm TUESDAY - Forres Community Centre, 9.30-10.30am and 7.00-8.00pm WEDNESDAY - Kinloss Church, 9.30-10.30am All classes should be booked beforehand and are payable as a block at the start.
