Fast & Reliable Sailmaker, Sail Repairs and Marine Canvas Work. New dinghy racing sails! Exe Sails & Covers was formed in August 2013 by Sam Woolner, Mac McDonald and Chris Scanes, who has been serving the local and national sailing community for over 30 years and building on Chris's success, they combined to form the largest sail loft on the river Exe and in East Devon. Pete Handscomb joined and completed the team in January 2014 bringing nearly 40 years of experience making regional, national and World Championship winning dinghy sails.
We can manufacture sails for all boats including Yacht racing and cruising sails as well as Dinghy racing and cruising sails. Chris Scanes, our veteran sailmaker, is also the UK’s most experienced Junk Rig sailmaker.
We have a dedicated Canvas department who specialise in bespoke canvas work and in house, we manufacture a wide range of recycled sailcloth and canvas accessories.
We also supply top quality dinghy covers for all forms of sailing dinghy and a bespoke cover service.
We pride ourselves on our service and the relationships we have with our customers, providing after sales assistance, information and helpful tips to make your boat go faster and your sails last longer.
