Formation - All The Rest Is Noise (Official Video)
In this week's Artist Spotlight, Jessica Yim takes a look at electronic-rock due Formation: Meet Formation. (Not to be confused with Beyoncé’s stellar track). A brilliant duo, composed of twin brothers, Will and Matt Ritson, who hail from south London, a feat which prevails in their upbeat and head-banging electronic-rock. Their energetic sound and infectious beats resemble the nostalgic age of David Bowie’s music, with a splash of LCD Soundsystem and a sprinkle of the 1975; Formation is a perfect musical concoction. The band adheres to their name, frequently collaborating with other musicians for their live shows, adding a new element of interaction between the artists and their audience. Whether it be walking down the street on a summer’s day (or merely reminiscing about one), blasting it loud in a solitary jamming sesh, or even during a sesh, whichever takes your fancy, you’ll find yourself bobbing and nodding your head all day long as a ‘slave to the rhythm’ (quote from Miss Alice McGowan). Their latest release is ‘Powerful People’, just a taste of their eagerly awaited upcoming debut album, ‘Look at the Powerful People,’ coming out in March and available for pre-order now. 2017 should also be a busy time for the boys with their Formation tour, so keep your eyes peeled as I’m sure you won’t be confusing them with Beyoncé for much longer. I know I won’t. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2aDLbpjlx8
