Genevieve Murphy - GEN JON ART.
Description
Gen Jon Art is a creative partnership between Artists, Designers, Sculptors, Facilitators and husband and wife Genevieve Murphy and Jon Kelly.
We are dedicated to making the excitement of creating works of art available to everyone of all ages and abilities, through the provision of quality art projects that are memorable, enjoyable and stimulating.
We believe that the arts have a significant part to play in the life of communities and helps build confidence and inspire a sense of creative well being, encouraging cultural and creative activity.
This is implemented through devising a range of high quality hands on workshops and training that enable and support the development of creative thinking skills, accessing people's ideas and mobilising the imagination through a wide variety of media and art forms.
We take visual art materials and equipment to a wide range of settings that include schools, community centres, youth clubs, institutions, care homes and public events and provide large and small scale projects that range from printing, painting, mixed media, theatre, animation, fashion, 3D sculpture and applied crafts.
Genevieve who is originally from Omagh Co.Tyrone, has a B.A. Hons Degree in Theatre Design from Nottingham University.c
On graduating from college she moved to London to take the position of head of the Art and Design Dept. at Cosprops, creating costumes, sets and props for the television and Film Industry, an influence she continually brings to her work to today. It was here that she met her future husband Jon an artist who was working for Spitting image productions and together they relocated to Northern Ireland and set up and established Genevieve Jon designs.
" The careful consideration of design, detail and presentation ensures the high quality and individuality of our work. ''
Along with our workshop programmes and community art projects we enjoy designing and creating individual pieces of art and sculpture taking on a range of commissions from 3D sculpture, paintings, props, applied crafts and also offer a creative design service.
We have collaborated with both the public and private sectors and have previously received awards for our work including 'Year of the Artist'
(Arts Council of Northern Ireland), RDS National Craft and Design competition: New Entrants category and 'Best Stand' ( Showcase RDS Dublin).

Lough Bogs & Mountains School workshops.
I really enjoyed facilitating these workshops at Enniskillen Castle and Museum last week. The chidren's response to the exhibition was fantastic with some inspirational pieces of artwork produced.
Great Ideas come into fruition with like minded organisations..... Thank you to Enniskillen BID for supporting this concept, enabling me to work creatively with local business, engaging community groups and supporting the Arts.
I am so delighted to have had the opportunity to bring a shelved idea to life through a chance meeting with Noelle Mc Aloon from Enniskillen BID. The Twelve windows of Christmas....an Interpretation of the Classic carol, designed to promote the individual business involved, by creating large scale Christmas Decorations that relate to the specific products sold. The wonderful Decorations were made with the help from the clients of Fermanagh New Horizions in a series of workshops...and each window decorated with handmade stencils of snowy trees ,vinyl lettering and a flurry of snowflakes. A magical trail, created and supported by local people from Enniskillen for the people of Enniskillen.
The Offical launch of the Loughs, Bogs & Mountains exhibition opens tomorrow ( Thurday 19th Oct ) at Enniskillen Castle and Museum @ 7.00pm. I have throughly enjoyed curating this event and having the opportunity to showcase the work of so many local Talented Artists, Designers and Sculptors. Join us for an evening to celebrate the exhibition, the collaboration with Fermangh & Omagh District Council Arts Service, and the staff of Enniskillen Castle & Museum who are hosting this unique exhibition. It is a wonderful opportunity to invest in an unique piece of work that reflects the beauty of The Fermanagh Landscape.
Flipped Furniture ! I just loved the retro style of this 4 drawer unit. Having transformed it from dull wood to a functional piece of Art, by handpainting a Meadow scene in shades of geys and siver I love it even more. Soon to be displayed in Collage Collective shop and gallery at the Buttermarket, perfect if your looking for a one of piece of furniture £190.
Looking forward to adding a splash of colour to this current dull, wet climate !

Having a little bit of time on my hands I have finally been able to experiment and try out an idea.. Inspired by the beauty of Sligo and materials to hand, I have had carved out sheets of polystyrene to create these relief rock pool paintings. Acrylic, foamcoat, gesso, wax and inks.. very messy but fun! Will be experimenting more on this new technique as the results are dynamic.
Woodland Props.
A Fox, squirrel, fairies, large scale dragonflies, flower arches, a real life princess and lots of sunshine made the Enchated trail event for children in Portadown Peoples park anoher successful day.
