Statement - Pedal Club Thursday 23rd February 2017 On Monday 16th January 2017 we realised our dream of opening a bespoke Spinning Studio. It took many months of hard work to get to that point, but it was all worth it as we opened the doors. In just FIVE trading weeks (ending last Sunday 19th) over 300 customers had visited. This surpassed ALL expectations, and we were set to achieve break-even by the end of our second month. Things couldn’t have gone any better. However, in those five trading weeks we were broken into TWICE. The first happened in our second week, where the intruders caused extensive damage in gaining access via the front window, having smashed the locks on the external shutter. The second happened at midnight on Monday. You would have seen the picture from our social media, but even the Police were shocked at the force the intruders used in order to gain access. We can’t say too much as this is an ongoing Police investigation, however, we can say that they used sledgehammers to smash their way into the building via an external wall at the back of the property. Upon smashing the wall, they hit our main pipework causing the pipes to burst & flood the immediate area. The crime scene was devastating to witness. With the ongoing threat & worry of more break ins we have been desperately mulling over our future. Ultimately we can’t make the building any more secure, furthermore if the intruders are so intent to access that they break through exterior walls, what hope do we have? Therefore we have decided with immediate effect to terminate our operation at Pedal Club Elstree. This is easily the hardest thing that we have ever had to decide & we’re beyond upset at the situation. Anyone who has booked an unfulfilled class will get a FULL refund & anyone that bought a multiple/unlimited pass will get a pro-rata refund. These will be posted to home addresses tomorrow & paid via cheque. Finally, some thank you’s; To our team of Instructors; Dan, James, Ruth, Simone & Thea. Thank you for believing in us before we had even opened! You were all fantastic, so professional & we’re extremely grateful. To EVERYONE that attended our classes; Thank you so much for taking the chance & visiting us. We believe that we really proved that combining the most awesome instructors, with the best bikes & the cheapest pricing in the area would equal a fantastic studio. We felt like we had really delivered something special & were on the verge of really great things. Sadly it wasn’t to be & for the time being, the intruders have won. However, we’re on the look out for a new venue & can’t imagine a life without Pedal Club. If anyone can suggest anything please call us on 01923 549019.
