facebook.comFor those who have been following and asking about Elsa over the last few years, you may be aware she is at another herd (Luxlyk Reindeer) with Loki's big brother (Hector). We are delighted to announce Elsa gave birth today, to a little boy! Mum and son are bonding well, later in the year he will be coming to live here with Thor, Loki and the gang.
Thank you for visiting our small family business, it really does reward and astound us when so many people visit and have an enjoyable family day out to see these amazing animals up close at their year round home. There is a WEATHER WARNING for Friday 23rd with rain and gale force winds ~ 50mph so we advise you NOT to come visit the reindeer that day as likely no hand feeding if that wet/windy, tomorrow 22nd seems better. Please remember that we close at 2PM on Christmas Eve to give the reindeer time to get ready for their big night - it looks to be quite stormy still. From all of us we hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with your loved one's. Regards Scott, Elaine, Sean & Eve
Be Quick! We open tomorrow... 10.30 - 3.30 Daily No bookings needed Visit Santa's Reindeer & our Miniature Donkeys.
We open this month on Sat 26th November. Open daily 10.30 to 3.30 Last year we had a lot of couples & single people visiting us so no need to borrow anyone’s children to come and see the reindeer, all welcome. No bookings necessary, come visit the reindeer at their year-round home and see Jack & Frost the miniature donkeys. We have a grotto with video message and sleigh barn with Santa’s sleigh to sit on. New this year we have two baby reindeer Thor & Loki who will be 6 months old. We have a 45-foot outdoor wooden train added to the play equipment. We also have Rudolph our new mascot who will be around the park meeting visitors every Saturday, Sunday and the last 3 days (22,23 & 24th)
SCHOOL & GROUP VISITS We are now taking bookings for group visits; these are for schools & large groups on weekdays only. Bookings are for groups of 15 or more aged 2+ (as under 2's are still free). We do 10am & 1pm group visits on weekdays. If you have a group that wishes to visit please contact us through Facebook or mail@ythanbank.co.uk with your number, preferred dates or days and Elaine will call you to book it in, if your group is under 15 and/or mainly under 2's then you can visit us any day that we are open without a booking, usually around 11pm or 2pm are good as that avoids larger school groups. Things to see/do on a visit; Watch a video message from Santa in his grotto. Post a letter in his post box. Sit on Santa’s sleigh. Meet the reindeer at their home and feed them with an educational talk. Visit Jack & Frost our Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys at Donkey Den. Indoor barn with aviary of mixed birds. Various outdoor play equipment. New additions this year: A cabin with benches for schools to have their snack indoors. A 45-foot outdoor wooden train play set. Two baby reindeer Thor & Loki who will be 6 months old when we are open. We will update this page with our public post early November with opening dates & times.
We are very excited to welcome & introduce Thor & Loki to our herd after a 1000 mile round trip over 2 days to collect them. Thor & Loki are brothers and were born in May this year so will be roughly 6 months old when we open to the public, they have settled in very well. We would like to thank Karen at Luxlyk Reindeer Hire for such beautiful boys.
Our resident mallard couple George & Mildred have done well :) we counted 13 ducklings that came up from the pond today. On the right, back on the island, you may be able to see the female swan who's starting her nest and 42 day incubation period.
