PUPIL BULLETIN – THURSDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER Right of the week Ellon Academy is a United Nations Rights Respecting School. Each week we will look at different rights. Think about how these apply to you and what governments need to do to make sure everyone in the world has these rights. United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: Articles 7 & 8: “Every child has the right to a legally registered name and nationality, as well as the right to know and, as far as possible, to be cared for by their parents. Governments must respect and protect a child’s identity and prevent their name, nationality or family relationships from being changed unlawfully. If a child has been illegally denied part of their identity, governments must act quickly to protect and assist the child to re-establish their identity.” ASSEMBLIES THIS WEEK Thursday - S4 Friday - S5 & S6 Mrs Henderson ALL PUPILS - FAIRTRADE The Fairtrade Steering group will be selling a section of fairly traded ice cream, chocolate and snacks today at lunchtime in the sunken social area. Pupil Voice Policy We are at the time of year when classes are voting for their class reps in every register class and seniors are voting for the House and Sports Captains. Additionally, we have had our votes and interviews for the Prefects and our Executive Team and all our seniors are joining school committees. The new Pupil Senate elections will take place after the summer when each year group will vote for their Senate Rep. There are lots of ways for pupils to make their opinions and suggestions heard. It is important for all pupils to be active participants and not just leave decisions to someone else. Please encourage your children to make the most of the Pupil Voice opportunities on offer in Ellon Academy. Thank you Mrs Hall
