We've been welcoming lots of visitors to the area for the last couple of months and it was lovely this week for a family to speak with Fiona, our manager, at the end of their meal about the fantastic service received from Emma. She's not long returned from her maternity leave and Emma was thrilled to get such huge compliments from her guests. Huge morale boost to the team as a whole to read the TripAdvisor review too! Thank you. 😊

WOW, what an amazing response from our post regarding our proposition to return to our old pizza dough recipe to help ease our current staffing issues! 😀 A bit of background though - the decision to update our Menu and change the pizza dough recipe was not one taken lightly, nor without consultation. We in fact first looked at our choices earlier in the year with a customer survey, of which the majority stated that they preferred traditional, rustic style pizzas over deep dish and stuffed crust. We then sent our Head Chef on a Pizza University course with 2 Italian chefs flown over to run the course (the first of its kind in Scotland). After weeks of taste testing by our kitchen team, we then held a tasting night for +80 plus guests made up of a selection of regular customers known to us, competition winners from a Facebook competition and some of our Scribbles team members. The feedback from questionnaires given to every table was poured over and comments acted upon. Believe me, I had many a sleepless night prior to the change of our core product, the pizza dough. Scribbles is my whole working life and it’s taken up 16 years of time, effort and love! At times, anyone can feel that they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t but I genuinely felt that a change was necessary to keep the business fresh and moving forward. And some of the criticism that we have had in the past has been about the menu not changing in recent years (no alteration since 2014), that we’re not authentic Italian, the choice of ingredients we have isn’t to their personal tastes, etc. As a local business with a very vocal and supportive team, we do act upon feedback and try to look at certain requests. Please note that we’ve looked at more Vegan options this time around and I’m delighted that we have had a marked increase in the number of Vegan customers who we can now accommodate with the new menu. We still have a lot to learn though but through feedback from our customers we can do more and will. However, if we have removed your favourite pizza from the menu this time round, we may bring it back in the future but we do have all the toppings still available so there are options. In fact, we are planning on running the October Pizza Month again in which we create a separate pizza menu to run for 4 weeks alongside the existing menu and from there we look to introduce the ‘new’ favourites onto the main menu. Where else did we get (more than 4 years ago) the Caramelised Onion, Mexican and New Delhi from to name but a few? Apologies though, (for the War & Peace post!) and for those who the new menu hasn’t quite hit the spot with,😕 the pizza recipe and style choices have returned to the old one,😉 we still have the range of toppings we always have but with a tweak here and there, there is still a great selection of Pizzas that we have put together and we’re getting great feedback for example about the Carne Mista and Peking Duck, the Sticky Chicken Pasta which is now with noodles (as requested by various customers), and the Warm Chicken & Bacon Salad is going down a storm with the addition of Brie and our own house dressing. The last 7 weeks have been incredibly busy, with a kitchen team running a 1/3 down in numbers but we very much look forward to getting back on top of our service times, finishing off any further ‘tweaks’ and welcoming you back to enjoy the Scribbles experience again over the Summer holidays.😊 Thank you again for responding so ‘vocally’ on the page, the level of passion shows how much you care and support Scribbles and the team, so genuinely I thank you so much. Please remember we have the Swipii loyalty card scheme for all our regulars to reward you for this support. Faith

We're almost through the first week of the holidays and entering our 7th week of the new 'authentic' Italian inspired pizzas. Unfortunately after enjoying our busiest month this year so far (all since the new menu launch), we lost our Head Chef after 1.5 years along with another f/t chef heading off into new career sectors and we are finding our new pizza dough more labour intensive. We are aware that our timings are slipping when we are hand pushing our pizzas to order even with the best efforts of our crew. While we are running at present with a reduced kitchen team (while also training 2 apprentices) and juggling the high level of business we enjoy, we will be re-thinking our options in the coming days as to whether we revert back to our old style of pizza dough in order to support our kitchen. This makes our kitchen team both sad (because we love the new tasting, authentic dough) but slightly relieved as there's always comfort with the familiar. Thanks as always for your support and we'll keep you posted to the changes! But we will still aim to offer speciality pizza bases as Tom has been set a task of a flavoured pizza base and he came back thinking 'mmmm, beer!' 😊
