Please helps us save Sheena. She was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 15. At the end of 2018, after two and a half gruelling years of chemo treatment it was thought that she was in the clear, however, last month, she was told that the leukemia has returned. Sheena urgently needs a bone marrow if she is to stand any chance of surviving. Unfortunately, there has been no match yet and time is running out. Sheena is currently undergoing chemo to reduce her leukemia, blood transfusions, high dose of steroids, lumbar punctures and other medications. Please join her in this fight and help give her that chance. All it takes is a quick and free cheek swab test. Below are details of services that can help with the testing process. There are three places that you can go to check if you are able to help: Anthony Nolan (aged 16-30yrs): https://www.anthonynolan.org/8-ways-you-could-save-life/donate-your-stem-cells/what-does-joining-register-involve NHS (aged 17-40yrs): https://www.nhsbt.nhs.uk/british-bone-marrow-registry/how-can-i-help/ DKMS (aged 17-55yrs): https://www.dkms.org.uk/en/register-now People outside the UK can follow this link: https://share.wmda.info/plugins/servlet/mobile#content/view/22808546 If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Minesh Shah (minesh364@gmail.com) or 07834092824.

FREE insightful workshop ‘Finding a place for Ayurveda in Modern Clinical Medicine’, by Snehalben Shah- A Journalist, Social researcher and a Shishukunj member at Finchley Centre. Taking place on Thursday 25th July 2019 at Shishukunj Bhavan, 25-27 High Street, Edgware, Middx, HA8 7EE at 8:30pm - 10:00pm. Ayurvedic Medicine is a controversial and polarising topic in UK. The dominate ideas are that it’s ineffective, unscientific and associated with homeopathy and faith healing. Yet a growing number of patients in the UK are turning to Ayurvedic treatments in spite of these criticism as they loose faith in clinical modern medicine. This talk explains why! The bethaks are open to all. Please confirm your attendance by email to Laxmiben at bethaks@shishukunj.org.uk.

Excited children receiving Backpacks in Malawi
Last Saturday nearly 120 people from different communities and backgrounds joined together for the "One World" Service Day with our Jai Jagat Family from the Gandhi Ashram. We would like to extend deep gratitude to the Jai Jagat Family from the Gandhi Ashram, whose presence in London planted a seed for this gathering. We started the day by hearing from Shishukunj's young leaders, Tejbhai and Vikashbhai, who shared about their personal service journeys and how they've been transformed in the process of giving. They invited us all to share what service or seva means to each of us and how we hope to deepen in our service journeys in the coming year. Pallveeben, a supporter of Mary's Meals https://www.marysmeals.org.uk/ took the time to tell us more about their work and sharing the video of how the backpack project impacts the children who receive these gifts half-way around the world. Prior to the day, the Shishukunj volunteer team took the time to sort through and organise the hundreds of donated items to fill into the backpacks, which were then added to by the grown-ups and children on the day. The whole room felt so happy to have been a part of the process of putting the gifts together with so much love. Keeping the Ripples in Motion: Watch this short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjEAGKnZEck together with your family which follows the journey of the backpacks from when we packed them to when children in other parts of the world receive them from Mary's Meals to help all of you connect more deeply with the whole process of giving. Do acts of kindness together as a family. Visit KindSpring https://www.kindspring.org/ideas/ for ideas and if you're feeling moved to do more, sign-up for a 21-day Kindness Challenge! https://www.kindspring.org/challenge/ Learn more about "How to Help Kids Learn to Love Giving" in this inspiring article so you can plant seeds of generosity in the hearts of everyone in your family. https://www.servicespace.org/about/cubs/?nid=279

Last Sunday we were blessed to have sessions led by Nipinbhai Mehta for our older children at both our Harrow and Finchley centres. The children had the opportunity to listen to stories Nipunbhai shared about giving and receiving and introduced baalako to the concept of 'me to we'. The children also shared their experiences and were introduced to smile cards, inspiring them to pass on acts of kindness. At Finchley Centre, the session ended with a group hug to a song, 'Being Kind by Nimo' to in which the younger children also participated.
