K-Woodlands
Description
The East Kilbride Community Trust (EKCT) are in the early stages of establishing a Community Woodland in the vicinity of Peel Park, East Kilbride, with the aim of providing an attractive and accessible greenspace for those who live and work in the surrounding area.
We hope to build a safer, stronger and happier community by encouraging people in the local area to help care for this neglected outdoor space, and to make greater use of it for health and wellbeing purposes. The woodland will also be used to provide programmes of formal and informal education, including Forest School, and it is hoped that the site will become a valuable location for outdoor learning.

We had an incredible group of young men and women in to help us in the woodland on Thursday this week. They spent the day in helping us to trim back the walkway in to the site we're using at Redwood Place. 17 bags were filled and the difference is amazing. Great to have a big group of strong lads in to shift the logs and create another story circle for bookbug 🌿🍃🌱🌲🐞🐛 they all worked really hard and learned how to use secateurs, loppers, handsaws and a couple of the boys got to use the bow saws too. These guys set the record for how much was achieved in one day now I will definitely be scheduling another session in soon for other areas of our beautiful woodland so if anyone would like to get involved in our next volunteer day and learn some new skills let us know, it's great for confidence building and learning about team work too 🤗🤗
