Based at St John's Church in Ealing, London, the Ealing Soup Kitchen provides food, advocacy, & practical help for the vulnerable & homeless.  Ealing Soup Kitchen became a registered charity last year that was set up to help the vulnerable and homeless in the area, despite the fact that the Soup Kitchen itself has been running for over 40 years. We want to get the word out that we're here to help - and that you can too.
It is currently managed by a board of trustees and a part time homeless worker.
Currently, we run a drop in service on a Friday where clients can get free clothes, cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit, play some games and also visit St Mungos, a local housing charity for advice. Many come in seeking advice over council / legal / benefits enquires, which we also endeavour to help them with. We also have plans to run an art class, get a free hairdressing service in, and have just started a monthly film class. On the weekends we offer food and a sense of community and belonging in our Soup Kitchen, and on Sundays even a church service for those who want it afterwards.

"What's up with the postcards for your charity auction?" We want to raise awareness & stand up for homelessness, which is something the Ealing Soup Kitchen is passionate about! We will displaying the likes of Madness & others (some really well known names in the mix - from Prime Ministers, to soap stars, Olympic gold medallists, actors, comedians & politicians) alongside our homeless client's postcards - all mixed in together. We do this to ditch this silly 'us and them' attitude we often have to rough sleepers, homeless, vulnerable, & mentally ill. We are collecting postcards from significant individuals firstly to garner more interest in buying them, but also to show that some of the world's poorest & invisible can now exhibit alongside the world's most well known. We do it to say, actually, we're all in this together - no matter if you are a beggar or the Sultan of Brunei: we are all human - we all have rights, & today we're coming together. As John Donne once wrote - we are all part of the main. So whilst we'll be displaying these postcards & selling them in a tombola - every postcard will cost the same, and you don't know which one you might win. We want to keep this ethos right through all the work we do. We're all in this together, & we all deserve love, compassion, & have our basic needs met. The postcards that we sell will go towards maintaining our evening drop in but hopefully also to expand our work out into the community - to reach people where they are. We've got 100 of these postcards to display. If you think you can help - or you know someone significant who might be willing to sign & doodle on one, please send us a DM - we'd love to hear from you. #charity #homelessness #difference #ealing #postcards #auction #bethechange

Madness are coming to 'Our House'! We got some great doodles from the band after their gig in Edinburgh that are going into a tombola to be sold off for charity, which will be displayed on a wall along with some of our client's work too - they are all together to show that ALL of us, no matter how well known or big we are - we are, as John Donne once wrote 'a part of the main' - and we all matter; together. Pictured here is Woody's mum who kindly got these for us :) #madness #ourhouse #houseofcommon #pop #music #charity #band #homelessness

When I was in Poland a few years ago, one of the most useful words I learnt was "Dziękuję". It means "Thank you". The simple words are often the most sincere. It's been just over 2 years to the day since I started this job, and I too realise the value of "thank you". There's no way we'd have been able to do as much, start our Evening Drop in, find some amazing guests for the clients to meet, have such caring volunteers and supporters and ultimately help so many vulnerable and homeless....without "thank you". So honesty, truly and deeply, THANK YOU for all your help. I'll never stop saying it. I pray you never get tired of hearing it. - Andrew
