Girls u18 Match Report .......................................... Saturday 10th March 2018 DJM League Cup Semi Final – u18 Girls Plympton 1-8 Dawlish United Goal scorers: Tyson (3), Barbour-Gresham (2), Miller, Morison, Rosser Star Player: Georgie Barbour-Gresham For the second game in succession Dawlish headed to Plymouth to face Plympton Ladies, this time in a League Cup semi-final. A largely comfortable 3-1 win in the previous league match for Dawlish sent them into this game as favourites. With yet another wet week wiping out the majority of games, this match was moved to the fantastic new facility at Plympton Academy to be played on the3G astro turf. This was good news for a Dawlish team who love to try and dominate possession in games and use their technical ability to move the ball around. From the off, Dawlish were looking in confident mood, switching the ball well across the pitch and from defence to attack. One pass released Daniella Tyson on the left, and Tyson used skill and speed to beat her marker before pulling the ball back for Georgie Barbour-Gresham to sweep first time into the corner of the goal via the post. More chances followed and it was 2-0 soon after as Barbour-Gresham doubled her tally with a stunning strike from 25 yards which flew into the top corner. Dawlish were finding space all over the pitch and could have been further ahead but for some slightly heavy final passes and touches. At 2-0 down, Plympton were still in the game but were struggling to create any chances of their own. This proved fatal as a three goal blitz from Dawlish just before half time put the game to bed. First Tyson cut in from the left and fired low into the goal to make it three and then Ella-mae Miller showed good footwork on the edge of the box before making it 4-0. Tyson added a fifth before half time to send Dawlish in with a commanding lead at the break. A much better start to the second half from Plympton wasn’t a surprise and they pulled a good goal back with a volleyed finish from an accurate corner 5 minutes into the second half. Chasing more goals to try and close the gap further was Plympton’s only choice but this of course left them open to the counter attack at the other end. Dawlish were frustrated for the first part of the second but found a way through eventually as Carmen Morison latched onto Barbour-Gresham’s excellent lofted through ball to make it 6-1. Two late goals finished off the scoring as Tyson completed her hat-trick with a brilliant lob over the keeper and then Lucy Rosser rounded the goalkeeper before knocking the ball into the open goal. A fantastic 8-1 win was well deserved, with the victory sending Dawlish through to the League Cup Final in May where they will play either Hooe Rovers or Saltash. Player of the match went to Georgie Barbour-Gresham who was a dominant force in midfield for the whole match and finished the game with two goals and two assists. Team – Erin Romanowski, Juney Spillings, Taylor Williams, Sasha Mole, Georgie Barbour-Gresham, Ella-mae Miller, Carmen Morison, Daniella Tyson, Lucy Rosser, Tayla Hodgson, Olivia Lambshead, Freya Jackson
