Good training isn't telling the horse what to do. Good training is being able to read the horse, adapt your approach according to their needs, and interact with them in a way that is safe, ethical and effective. In this one day workshop you will learn about the Horse Sense Golden Triangle of interaction between emotions, behaviour, and training. You will learn how learning theory functions in the wider context of horse behaviour. Most importantly, you will learn how to keep you and your horse in the safety zone. This will all be explained with the help of Dr Helen Spence's Horse Sense Model of Emotion. Helen has been teaching this model to her clients and students over the past few years to great effect, using it to form an effective bridge between psychological theory and practical application. (Maybe some quotes/ testimonials here would be good?!) The day is divided in half, with the morning focused on introducing the theory in a simple, sensible way, with the help of Helen's easy to understand models. You will learn about motivation, body language and behaviour, with a focus on safety and welfare. The afternoon session looks at applying these theoretical models in the practical context, with the aid of video and real life horses where appropriate. The day runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Cost is £35 per head. Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided but please bring your own lunch. Places are limited so must be booked in advance.

We've been fairly busy the past couple of weeks with some building work. Our main project was to convert our large barn in to three separate rooms - tack room, feed room and hay/bedding storage with a large storage area on top. It's almost finished and is looking fantastic! 😃

We have such a talented gardener! One of the trees in our front garden needed to come down ... so he's made it in to something useful! He intends to put bird houses/feeders on here along with some potted plants ☺

I recently added a small bucket of loose rock salt at the hard standing. The horses already have access to Himalayan salt licks but they seem to be enjoying the new stuff too! Every day I level it out and there's a new nose print in it the next day ☺

Two of our horses proving that even the 'fancy' ones can grow a nice, full coat and enjoy naked days in the winter! ❄️ ☀️ Bagheera is a beautiful Oldenburg gelding by Sandro Hit. Jules is a handsome Knabstrupper gelding by Fintel knn125. These boys have also come through winter living out 24/7 on ad-lib forage and NO hard feed!
