Did you know that 2018 is the Year of Young People? Today we teamed up with other attractions across Edinburgh and Midlothian to welcome S2 pupils from Holy Rood High School for a look around Dalkeith Country Park and a talk about the various jobs you can train for in tourism, retail and hospitality. We love this shot from the new high rise walkway in Fort Douglas!

We're just a little bit in love with the gorgeous Bluebellgray range in store, created by Scottish designer Fi Douglas. It might not be spring outside yet, but we're sure to be found creating it with these colourful cushions in Restoration Yard.

Many thanks to all the young adventurers and teachers from Woodburn Primary School who came out to test the new Fort Douglas Zip Wires today despite the rain. And for letting our Countryside Ranger Julia have a shot - it was the highlight of her day despite being runner up in her Zip Wire race!

Thank you for your comments posted about our new pricing structure in Fort Douglas adventure playground. Unlike some other country parks with playgrounds we do not receive any public funding and are changing our prices for us to be able to run a sustainable business moving forwards. We don’t charge for car parking and have stopped charging an entrance fee for Dalkeith Country Park at the gate so everyone can enjoy the 1,000 acres with its waymarked walks and cycling routes free of charge. We plan to bring forwards a mid-week, term time discount that will form part of our loyalty scheme once it’s introduced. This will give you the option to visit for less whether you’re visiting with babies and toddlers during the week or older children after school (we currently open until 5pm which will extend to 6pm in April). The mid-week, term time prices will be £5 for a joint child & adult ticket, £1 for an extra adult and £3 for an extra child. We will be updating our website with this information in due course. Thank you.

Hi everyone. We’ve had many of our customers comment on the new prices in Fort Douglas which are coming in on 17th March, so we wanted to explain the reasons behind this. This move is essential in enabling us to operate a sustainable business which can be enjoyed for years to come. A significant amount has been invested in Fort Douglas to date. There are large ongoing maintenance costs for us to cover and ensure Fort Douglas and its facilities are always at the highest standard for our customers. We also wanted to let you know that we are currently working on a new loyalty card system which will enable you to accrue points to spend in both Fort Douglas and Restoration Yard. Loyalty card holders will get special offers and discounts in Fort Douglas throughout the year. We hope to launch this in April and will bring you more information on this soon. As a new business we are continually reviewing our facilities and pricing and researched other leisure activities in the area to ensure our pricing structure is on a par or lower. Your entry to Fort Douglas enables use of the playground for a full day and we’re no longer charging the £1 fee on the gate to the Park for walks, picnics and more. We would also love to continue investing in Fort Douglas in the future to make it even bigger and better for all our visitors. We invested in the toddler area last Easter, in the new Zip Wires opening next weekend and hope to be able to again in the future to make Fort Douglas the premier play park in the area. Thank you.

The best #photobomb we've seen in a long time. We have a resident Robin here at the Park who became a little territorial in the snow last week with visitor Amanda Pache and friends. Or maybe he just wanted his share of the limelight...see the full video here: http://metro.co.uk/2018/03/06/robin-shocks-group-of-friends-with-the-perfect-photobomb-7366941/
