The Rings
Description
A unique holiday destination, specialising in accessibility. Our Vision:
Through various personal experiences it became apparent that there was a need for accommodation to provide for those with particular accessibility needs.
In Scotland those with high levels of disability find it almost impossible to find overnight accommodation. This affects the whole family's choices for holidays. We aim to improve this
situation. We have realised that disability affects all ages. This has an impact on the rest of the family. It can the result of illness, inherited disease or accident.
The Rings are bespoke designed unique holiday accommodation with flexibility to its core.
Hand crafted using modern standards by a team with a passion for what they are doing.
A hybrid boiler heats the underfloor heating mostly by an Air-source heat pump backed up with an LPG boiler. There are 8 en-suite bedrooms, two of which are studio apartments. There are two further principle lounge kitchen dining areas separated by a moveable wall which can be opened to enable all 16 guests to eat and socialise together, (please see our pictures for a visual representation of the flexibility of booking options) Two of the four kitchens are wheelchair accessible. The walls are soundproofed to a high standard for mixed occupancy and fire safety. Two of our apartments are to Category 1 standard, enabling a wheelchair user(s) to
holiday independently.
Three of the bedrooms have ceiling tracking hoist and those wet rooms also have a bath, one which has a power seat and jacuzzi style therapy.
Our Architects
Ian and Thea MacMillan have already won architectural awards for their own home The Ramp House in Edinburgh, built to accommodate their family in particular their youngest daughter, Greta who is a wheelchair user and also requires hoisting. Beatrice and Greta, their daughters helped with the design of their own house and helped shape The Rings too.

I have left The Rings in good hands and am on a road trip with my friend - started yesterday, crossed the Clyde to Hunters Quay near Dunoon in Argyll, stayed just outside Inveraray this morning the lady at the breakfast table next to us has been involved in Occupational Therapy all her working life, she forged the way for keeping people in their own homes (was involved in forming the legislation) she loved The Rings pictures and what has been built. On to visit my Aunt and Uncle and my cousin who suggested I visit the Carers centre in Lochgilphead, had a great blether with the lady behind the desk who has been involved in the care sector for many years, lots of people who she knows would benefit and previous colleagues she will let know of our accommodation. She suggested I put leaflets into the MS centre across the road, again we were received with excitement and hospitality and plans were starting to be formed in their heads as to who could come and when. One of the team said she had dreamed of building somewhere like The Rings, "You are living my dream". Love seeing folks faces when I tell them about and show them The Rings 💕
