A reptile encounters business based in Codicote, Herts. We pride ourselves on providing the best possible service to you and care to our animals :) Codicote Reptiles is the home of Matthew Payne and Jade Finnecy.

We have been keeping exotics for a number of years and have gathered a wealth of knowledge and experience.
We keep several species here including a variety of snakes, lizards, amphibians, turtles and invertebrates.
Aside from our love of the cold blooded we also have a soft spot for furries! We have ferrets an African pygmy hedgehog, a big white bunny and two house cats Douglas and Annabelle!

ENTERTAINMENT SERVICES
We are fully insured to take our animals out to meet and greet, both at public events and private functions!
We are available for any function, from birthday and private parties to scout troop and school talks!
We can bring a variety of animals (all of which can be handled) including snakes, lizards, amphibians and inverts to our events and we pride ourselves on giving the best experience we can.

If you are interested in booking us, or would like any further information about this service please feel free to get in touch with us!

BREEDING
We have bred a number of our snakes here. In 2017 we are having quite a quiet year, only pairing Pueblan and Mexican milk snakes. You can keep up with all our breeding projects on our page as well as see our current list of available animals! Feel free to ask for updates on our progress, as well as our future plans :)

FOR SALE
Our current availability list will always be pinned to the top of our page. All the snakes we sell are guaranteed 100% healthy and feeding when they leave here. We will not sell any animal that isn't ready for its new home and we reserve the right to take any snake off sale at any time if for any reason we are unhappy with its condition. We would much rather keep an animal then let it go before it's ready.

Any animal we have for sale that was not born here will have spent a minimum of 6 weeks with us and will need to meet the same standards as any animal bred by ourselves.

All our snakes can come with all records of their time here and a lifetime of aftercare advise should you need it. We'd rather you ask us what you think to be a silly question then for you to worry about your pet!

ENCLOSURES
We also have the capacity to sell our snakes with enclosures all of which are subject to availability but can all be ordered on request. We can supply plastic faunariums as well as wooden vivariums with or without all other items required for a setup.
Feel free to ask if you are looking for something that we don't stock and we'll be happy to see if we can source it for you. As well as equipment, if there are any animals you're looking for but cannot find feel free to try us too. If we can help source something for you we'd be happy to help.

DELIVERY
We are more than happy to courier our snakes and equipment certain distances for fuel cost. Price on request.

These two corn snakes are here looking for their new homes! We don't know much about them I'm afraid. Other than they are in good condition and feeding well :) Very placid snakes! £15 each rehome fee.

This female bearded dragon is currently with us. She was abandoned at South Essex Wildlife Hospital and is fit and healthy, if not a little podgy! Really lovely natured dragon. Now looking for a home from us :) £20 Rehome fee.

Apologises for the graphic images!! We recieved a call about a badly injured 'lizard' this week which turned out to be this female Great Crested Newt. Overall she is not in bad condition but her tail had been completely crushed, unfortunately beyond saving. So late last night we went to South Essex Wildlife Hospital where, in order to give her the best chance, she immediately had her tail amputated. Here's hoping that she does well and can be released. They know of a conservation site where she will be most welcome :) It was a lovely facility that does its very best for our wildlife! I'll link over their page at the bottom, please do support causes such as this. Our animals are worth it! While we were there we discovered that they had a few reptiles which they did not have the facilities to house, so of course we've offered our help. I will post up what we brought back later today. We will be rehoming them from here where possible and will be donating 50% of the rehome fee back to the hospital. https://www.facebook.com/southessexwildlife/

Jade found this little guy yesterday on the floor outside the reptile house. Poor thing was exhausted. We brought him in, gave him some honey and he soon flew off again! Team Bumble bee!

In other Gecko news. I think this Leopard may stay with us! As we only have Little G here that comes out to events I think he'll make a nice addition to the show family :) He's a lovely boy! I've also finally found a lovely female Crested Gecko to join us too! Need to see how they get on in the weeks to come before deciding whether they're 'show ready' but it looks promising for them :)

Male Leopard Gecko. We are currently looking for a home for this gecko :) A nice chunky boy. He's a bit flighty when first picked up but soon settles down once out. Given a bit of time he'll soon get used to handling. We will continue to handle him daily here until he's homed. A real beauty! £15 Rehome fee.

Another example of a slight lapse in husbandry here guys! Please do take a minute especially if you are are leopard gecko owner :) This guy has been dropped off to us today. He is a lovely big, gentle gecko. However, due to not having access to a moss hide or any other form of humid area (he had one in the enclosure but it had completed dried out) he has stuck shed on nearly every toe! Without intervention all his toes will eventually die due to lack of blood flow and he will lose them. This geckos general health is perfect and it was clearly cared for but please do be aware of their requirement for a bit of humidity, especially whilst shedding :) and every time your gecko does shed. Just give them a little once over. Paying particular attention to the toes and tip of the tail. What a lovely gecko!
