Over a quarter of children in the UK now have extra tuition but finding the right help for your child can be hard. I am a very experienced local teacher and am passionate about making learning fun AND effective. The pace of today's classroom can move so quickly that it is all too easy for children to miss out on key concepts and fall behind. Alternatively, more able children may be falling short of their true potential if they are not extended and challenged. Whatever your child's needs I will design a bespoke programme of learning and provide regular feedback to ensure that your child achieves their true potential.

The SATS papers for 2017 are now available online if you would like to take a look - https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/national-curriculum-assessments-practice-materials. The good news is that they are no harder than last year - the bad news is that they are no easier either!! There has been a really big emphasis on fractions and percentages this year and a high proportion of multi-step word problems requiring competence and fluency of the 4 operations. The sneakiest part of the arithmetic paper was putting a long division question in early on in the paper at question 20 as this often takes children a very long time to complete and fear that many will have spent too long on this and not had time enough to finish the paper and complete the easier questions that followed.

I've been using the CGP new GCSE Maths revision guide this morning. I would thoroughly recommend it as an excellent resource but not sure the message on the back conveys quite the right note of positivity!!!!
