Castleford Rugby League Football Club was founded in June 1926 and has always played at its current ground on Wheldon Road, 'The Mend-A-Hose Jungle.'

The Tigers have grown into one of the most famous Rugby League Clubs in the United Kingdom and has consistently produced players who have achieved worldwide status in the game of Rugby League.

The region has always been, and continues to be a rich nursery of Rugby League talent, competing at the top level whilst being centre of its local community.

International players from the area include legends such as half backs Alan Hardisty & Keith Hepworth, who starred for the club in the late 60's - early 70's, Malcolm Reilly who made his name at the club before becoming a legend of the game internationally, John Joyner who is the player to have represented the club most (585 + 28) appearances, and more recently, current centre Michael Shenton who came through the club's scholarship before becoming a mainstay in last year's Gillette Four Nations Competition.

Arguably the greatest achievements in the history, has been four Wembley Challenge Cup victories of 1935, 1969, 1970 & 1986.

Castleford Tigers are saddened to hear of the recent passing of ex player Colin Battye. Colin played here at Castleford from 1957 to 1966, making 174 appearances and scoring 75 tries. Colin also played in the very first BBC2 Floodlit Final in December 1965, beating St Helens at Knowsley Road. Our thoughts are with Colin's friends and family at this sad time.
