We don't want to grow old. I hear it everyday from people sat in coffee shops, people walking through the streets, from friends, family and people I worked with on photography. The feeling seems to be that the older we get the less time we have to change or do something with who we are. I've seen mothers talking down to their 6 week old children telling them to never grow up implying that if they do life becomes worse. Maybe not worse but it becomes harder and harder to cope with as the years roll by. Or maybe they want their children to hold on to youth for as long as possible? And I've seen kids shouting "I never want to grow up" because they've seen what can happen when we get older. On the other hand I've seen kids that can't wait to grow up saying they have all these plans that they need to do but they can't right now because they're too young. And it's true that it does get harder. As you grow there's school to cope will, high school then college then maybe uni or jobs that...
