We don't really need reminding what a fab place the park is for our dogs, but as it's International Dogs Day here's a reminder of the fun we had at Bushey Fun Dog Show.

It’s going to be a scorcher in the park today, but the kids can chill off in the splash pool. Lots of shade for a picnic, too.

Today, Friends of King George Secretary, Maria Parker and Chair, Christina Staple collected our prestigious Green Flag Award from Scheme Manager, Paul Todd. The event - hosted this year by Stevenage Borough Council - was all the more rewarding because it was the 21st consecutive year for the park, making it the record holder for Hertsmere.

King George has retained its Green Flag for the 21st year, making it the champion amongst all Hertsmere's parks. The prestigious award, given annually, is the mark of a quality park or open space. Maintained by groundsmen John O'Conner's, the park could not continue its award-winning run without all the work put in by the Friends of King George who run events, financially contribute to schemes and handle most of the communications. In addition they deal with a lot of day to day matters by reporting maintenance issues and anything from the splash park to lost property !
