Contemporary & Eco-friendly holiday lodges in Suffolk Upthorpe Lodges are the idea of Ian & Debbie Shilling. Avid fans of Channel 4's Grand Designs, they wanted to create eco-friendly lodges that also offered the best self-catered holiday accommodation possible, within a relatively small space and within their budget. June 2014 saw their final completion after 11 months of hard work, involving various trades and the help of local labour. Special offers will be featured on our facebook page.
In the heart of East Anglia where there is plenty to see and do, the two lodges each have their on identity, one fun and funky, the other stylish and classy.

High Lodge, Thetford Forest
High Lodge has great off-road cycling terrain for novices and the not too serious, and a bike hire centre too. The pits all have by-passes for softies!

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre
We're always looking ahead to find exciting local events, and this has to be one of the best. We especially love the craftworks and local food stalls. Yum!

We love it when guests leave their feedback on local places of interest and once in a while we contribute our own. This local restaurant, The Dark Horse at Stowlangtoft, they say is difficult to find but hard to forget, and we had a very enjoyable lunch there last week. Recommended.
