HISTORY
Choral singing in Kenfig Hill can be traced back as far as 1890 when the Kenfig Hill Male Voice Party won competitions from as far as the lovely Vale of Glamorgan to the distant coastal town of Swansea. Since those days, many choirs under the Kenfig Hill banner have come and gone. The predecessor to the present choir was forced to disband through lack of public support in 1949.
For more than 20 years the male choral vacuum remained unfilled until in December 1971 a small band of hopefuls from the village met at the local rugby club and formed the present choir. It started life with just 18 members and has since grown to over 70. (June 2014)

OUR YOUTH CHOIRS DaCapo & Crescendo - featuring DaCapo Following the successes of "Crescendo" and the massed children's choirs in 40th Anniversary Concert in the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl in July 2011 it was evident there was a need for a childrens choir. With the help of Kathryn Brace, a teacher from Mynydd Cynffig Junior School, "Da Capo" was born. Da Capo is a children's choir for ages 9 to 14. Da Capo under the instruction of Kathryn Brace rehearse on Thursday evenings in the Choral Suite at the Green Acre Motel.

OUR YOUTH CHOIRS Da Capo/Crescendo featuring "Crescendo" The first item of the Kenfig Hill & District Male Voice Choir's constitution is 'the promotion and performance of Choral Music'. With this in mind, in September 2010, at the request of the Choir's Musical Director Philip Juliff and its accompanist Andrew Chinnock, the Choir took the decision to extend the scope of choral singing by forming the youth choir "Crescendo”. "Crescendo” caters for the ages 14 to 24 and have already performed in many concerts. By providing this opportunity to the youth and children of the area the Male Voice Choir feels it is able to put something back into the community. The musical team behind these choirs give their time freely and there is no charge to the those who attend. In May of 2014 "Crescendo" recorded their first CD. The recording was made in the prestigious Ty-Cerdd recording studios in Millennium Centre Cardiff. The CD entitled Cana o dy Galon and is available from Choir members or contact the Secretary. Crescendo under the instruction of Kathryn Brace rehearse on Thursday evenings in the Choral Suite at the Green Acre Motel and welcomes new members.
