Irene Mackay Stained Glass
Description
I make Stained Glass panels and windows to commission for private individuals and businesses. I also offer courses in Stained Glass making. Personal Statement:
Stained Glass – Coloured Light
For me, the beauty in stained glass begins with its properties filtering and altering light. Throughout its thousand year history, stained glass has been applied almost exclusively to the windows of churches and other significant buildings. In these spaces the design content, and reflective light were meant to be reverential.
In more recent times, stained glass has become more readily available in the home, communal spaces and the commercial sector. This is due in part to modern glass production techniques opening out the market, along with the development of kiln work such as fusing and slumping glass. Contemporary glass however, can also retain traditional techniques such as acid etching, enamel painting and silver staining, many elements of these techniques can be seen in my own work at

facebook.comSome of you may already know I've been ill for a while. I've not got round to folding my website, twitter, Facebook page etc etc, but have begun that process. I've decided to just close down the website when my domain rental finishes in July 16. So until then, you can look at it, and on here. My focus is now elsewhere, although I still enjoy viewing stained glass when I visit new places. Long may this continue! Thanks for looking.
