Rachel Jayne's Sport and Remedial Massage Therapy
Description
Rachel is a level 5 sport and remedial massage therapist in Braintree and surrounding areas. Rachel gained her level 5 sport and remedial massage therapy at the London School of Sport massage. She is also part of the institute of sport and remedial massage therapy.
In 2010 she graduated with a BSc in physiotherapy (2:1) from the University of East Anglia.
Rachel Jayne's will help maintain and improve the condition of soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments), whether they are put under stress from sporting activities, your occupation, general lifestyle or postural stresses.
Muscles and Tendons are continuously put under stress and sometimes due to overuse they will become tense and painful. This may be due to repetitive movements on the training field, performing repetitive movements in your job everyday or simply the way your posture has developed to adapt to your lifestyle. Through various techniques of sports and remedial massage therapy areas of tension, imbalance and pain can be treated and this may alleviate symptoms. General advice will also be offered if appropriate to suit you, your lifestyle , occupation and sporting activities.
In a more sporting context sport and remedial massage can help to enhance the recovery from training by aiding in the removal of waste products, restoring nutrition and increasing the flow of fluid between tissues. Regular massage will help to keep the soft tissues of the body in an ideal condition, improving muscular balance and flexibility and decreasing tension. Additionally massage can help to prevent more complex injuries as the state of the soft tissues can be felt and observed through a thorough assessment. This can be achieved by various treatment techniques to release tension, increase flexibility of the muscles and reducing adhesions between the muscle fibres and between the muscle fibres and fascia.
Soft tissue injuries can be treated once inflammation has reduced. Sports and remedial massage will help break down scar tissue, realign soft tissue fibres and help maintain strength and flexibility to the muscles and proprioception to the joints.

facebook.comNeck and shoulder pain/tension is one of the most common problems I see and is usually caused by stress, poor posture and overuse. Tight muscles and active trigger points can cause aches and pains over the area, down into the shoulder blade and up into the head. A combination of deep massage techniques, specific and general stretches as well as exercises can help to decrease tension and ease the pain. Call or message me for more info 🙂

MUSCLE CRAMPS: A muscle cramp is a sudden involuntary contraction in a working muscle which causes severe acute pain. The full cause of muscle cramps are not fully understood but there are several theories about contributing factors: 1) Fatigue: Studies have found that people are more likely to cramp if their muscles are overworked and fatigued. Most cramps are likely to occur at the end of races and training. Additionally a poor tapering programme prior to competitions and a higher intensity at the start of exercise can all contribute to fatigue and cramp 2) Electrolyte loss and dehydration: While studies on these theories have proven to be inconclusive, dehydration can certainly be linked to fatigue (as above) 3) Muscles cooling: If muscles are not kept warm and an increase of intensity is sudden following a period of rest then cramps are more likely to occur. While theories are vague on muscle cramps the following can help to prevent them: Correct pacing Strength training Stretching Staying warm during rest periods Keeping hydrated And of course MASSAGE to help with fatigue and muscle recovery.
