Home grooming and pet health tip; inside your dogs ears are sensitive and regular cleaning can help prevent ear infections. If your dog grows hair inside the ear canal this is removed by your groomer. To help desensitise your dog to this play with their ears and gentle pluck stray hairs from inside the ear on a regular basis and clean with an ear wipe or water/ear solution and cotton pad. Your groomer can show you how to do this at home in between grooms. In the long run maintaining healthy ears is better for your dog and can save in costly vet bills on a common and avoidable problem. If your dogs ears are smelly see your vet as this indicates an infection. Red or itchy ears are also signs of a need to visit your vet.
