We are experiencing a recent increase in door to door salesmen, often known as Nottingham Knockers. They are selling household items out of a holdall, do not possess a valid pedlars license and are, thus, commiting a crime. If you receive a call from one, either do not open the door to them or, if you do, politely decline their offer, close the door and call 101 to report to us so we can come out and deal accordingly. If you have any vulnerable neighbours, please keep an eye out for them. Please share and pass this on to anyone who doesn't follow this page.
Once again, the annual problem of drivers ignoring the flood signs and road closures on the B3106 link road between Holt and Staverton hits the press. Please do not ignore these, or any other road closures, as you are putting your life, and emergency services personnel lives, at risk. In addition, Insurance companies are now checking when closures were put in place and may not pay out for repairs if it can be proved the driver ignored signs. http://www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk/news/15898295.Calls_for_floodgates_grow_after_reckless_driver_who_ignored_signs_rescued/
