The beast from the east swept across the UK recently and left us in chaos with heavy snow. This week we had a different beast from the east in the form of this unique MX5 NC1 2.0 Sport. Rocking some special paint work and styling upgrades its sure to divide opinion, but were not here to talk about the show, its all about the go in our book! The owner decided to go with our Clubsport Rotrex A/S supercharger kit along with some other upgrades, starting off with a preliminary power test and check on the dyno it made a healthy 167BHP and 152LBFT torque with a header and exhaust system over stock. We then proceeded to add our Clubsport supercharger kit complete with fuel module. Our kit is based on the 400BHP capable Rotrex C30-94 Supercharger and is a true turn key conversion with everything included. A very in-depth ECU calibration using EcuTek Technologies Ltd tuning tools ensures OEM driveability and reliability is present and 4 stage map switching with full throttle shift and launch control is also added. As standard the NC1 does not have cruise control or map switching ability via the steering wheel, using a steering wheel from the NC2 and our cruise control kit we were able to add the functionality which was previously unavailable. A set of Whiteline anti roll bars were supplied and fitted along with a fast road alignment session on our hunter equipment to sharpen it up through the twisties and activate the grip! Finishing off we hit the dyno again to fine tune the ECU calibration and check the results. We list 280-300BHP with our Clubsport kit and it was right on the money with 297.9BHP & 245LBFT torque :) That's an increase of 130BHP and 120LBFT over stock figures! Another fantastic result! Thanks go to Mason for bringing his Colt CZT all the way from Bath yesterday for some choice upgrades :) Already running a full exhaust system, front mount intercooler, DV and Induction kit, we added a set of 440cc injectors and GrimmSpeed 3 port then hit the dyno for a custom EcuTek Technologies Ltd remap. After custom tuning the ECU we achieved 222BHP and 240LBFT :) A nice linear throttle map along with boost per gear means the increase in torque is predictable and manageable. Finishing up with the obligatory pops and bangs :) Tune complete it was back on the ramp for a Corten-Miller 230mm clutch and flywheel conversion, new slave cylinder and fresh Fuchs gearbox oil! Another mighty colt hits the streets :)

Thanks to Daniel who popped over this morning from Derbyshire with his Mitsubishi Colt CZT 1.5T for a custom EcuTek Technologies Ltd remap. Already equipped with the following upgrades: Corten-Miller V2 2.5" downpipe Full exhaust system EVO Metal BOV Front mount Intercooler Custom intake kit Uprated clutch CM traction switch A really well put together car meant we needed to do little before adding a GrimmSpeed 3 port boost solenoid and 440cc injectors. Next up we hit the dyno for a custom ECU calibration. Another fantastic result with 250LBFT torque and 225BHP. That's peak boost of 1.5BAR and holding 1BAR to the limiter :) With all that torque we added boost per gear, a nice linear throttle and some pops and bangs to finish off. One of the first MX5 Supercharger conversions we completed is now back for some more juice, its new owner is upgrading to our track spec package as this will only ever see the circuit. To keep a handle on track temps we fitted our prototype thermostatic oil cooler kit and boot mounted returned fuel system complete with new fuel rail, regulator, hardlines, swirl pot, filter and pump. New paddle clutch was supplied and fitted as the original had been finished off from spirited track driving and a new decat header was added in prep for the next lift in power. A Defi Oil temp gauge was added into one of the free air vents for track monitoring and the customer supplied a freshly re-trimmed original steering wheel which we installed. This finished off a nice OEM+ cabin feel. Armed with its new cooling and fuelling upgrades we added the clubsport power package, hit the dyno and lifted performance to 286BHP and 230LBFT torque. Our Rotrex based supercharger conversions are the ultimate forced induction upgrade you can add to MX5 NC, OEM drive ability, OEM reliability and OEM fit and finish. Nice Mitsubishi Colt CZT Blackhawk 1.5T in this morning for a custom EcuTek Technologies Ltd remap. This actually came in on Wednesday this week but we had to abort the tuning process due to a damaged induction kit causing MAF issues. With the stock airbox re-installed we started again this morning. As usual fantastic results of 206BHP and 205LBFT torque, modifications included primary decat, front mount and 99RON fuel.
