We thought we'd answer some of your most frequently asked questions! Q. Can I see a menu online? A. Certainly, click here: https://openmenu.com/restaurant/9f6c69f8-792b-11e6-807c-00163eeae34c This menu is also valid for Poppins Tea Rooms Q. Do I need to book? Can I just walk in? A. Although we welcome walk-ins, we usually would recommend booking a table, just to make sure there's one available when you arrive 🙂 Q. Can I book online? How do I make a reservation? A. To book you'll need to phone directly, as our staff will have the reservations book to hand, just call (01204) 435 209 Q. Are you and Poppins Tea Rooms the same business? A. Yes we are! They are based in Horwich, and are our original tea rooms. If you'd like to book with them, just call (01204) 773 520 Q. We'd like to have a birthday party/bridal shower/baby shower at Poppins, is this possible? A. Of course! If you'd like to discuss specifics, feel free to give us a call directly or pop in for a chat. Q. Are you open on Sundays? A. Yes, from 11am until 4pm. However Poppins Tea Rooms in Horwich is closed on Sundays. Q. Can you cater for gluten free or vegetarian guests? A. We can, but we need at least 24 hours notice to make sure we have the required ingredients available and ready for a Gluten Free Afternoon Tea For a vegetarian Afternoon Tea, simply let us know when you order!. We must point out though, that we do not have a dedicated gluten free or vegetarian preparation area within our kitchen. Q. Do you sell gift vouchers? A. We certainly do! We sell vouchers for our Indulgence Afternoon Tea for Two, a £10 voucher and a £20. They can be bought in person or over the phone, and are valid for 6 months after purchase. Q. How much is Afternoon Tea? A. We actually have an Afternoon Tea menu, and offer 8 Afternoon Teas, ranging from £4.95 up to £13.50 Q. Are children welcome? A. Most certainly! We even have a specific Afternoon Tea just for children: Jane and Michael's Afternoon Tea Q. Is there Disabled access? A. Smithills Hall has full disabled access to the ground floor, where our tea room is located. There are also disabled toilet facilities. You can, but there may potentially not be much space for them if the tea room is busy, so we generally would recommend leaving them outside. Car seats are welcome though, and we do have high chairs available. Q, Is there parking? A. Yes, Smithills Hall has free parking, disabled access parking, and more free parking nearby. Q. Do you take credit and debit cards? A. Yes we do. Q, Do you only serve cakes and snacks? A. No, we also serve light breakfasts and lunches, as well as a full sandwich menu. Q. Do you only serve tea? A. No, we also proudly serve Lavazza coffee, as well as soft drinks, cordials, hot chocolates, and other offerings. Q. What tea do you use? A. We serve Ronnefeldt loose leaf tea, and Yorkshire Tea. Q. Do you only serve fancy teas? I just like normal tea. A. If you just prefer a good standard brew, we happily serve loose leaf Yorkshire Tea Gold, and decaf tea. Q. Where are you exactly? A. We're on the ground floor within Smithills Hall, on Smithills Dean Lane in Bolton, BL1 7NP Q. What are your opening hours? A. Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm and Sundays 11am until 4pm. We usually open until 5pm in Summer months. Q. Do you have any special occasion menus? A. We usually offer a special menu for Mother's Day, and a full Festive Afternoon Tea menu around Christmas, as well as occasional specials and treats. Q. Do you have a loyalty card? A. Yes! Pick one up from the counter when you're next visiting. For every 10 stamped visits, you get a free Cream Tea! Q. How big are the tea rooms? How many can it seat? A. We have two options: - The main tea room is large and open plan, and can hold 52 diners - The Dome Room is a private function room that we can hire on your behalf from Smithills Hall itself. It seats around 30 people. Q. Do you run Smithills Hall? A. No. Smithills Hall Museum is run by Bolton Library and Museum Services. Our tea room is simply housed within the hall, and is run separately by us. Q. Can you say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards? A. Yes, but we think that's going a bit far, don't you? ;)
