This summer was all about making memories with my daughter, she’s a huge Harry Potter nerd so we visited many locations including #MalhamCove where we got pretty lucky with the weather on a yucky day. It’s Friday and this polar bear seemed to have the Friday feeling last Sunday when I took the family down to @yorkshire_wp Project Polar is a research centre to help bears in the world and in captivity throughout the world. Possibly one of the most photographed landmarks in the UK, St Mary’s Island and lighthouse in Whitley Bay, this is one from the archives as this view has recently changed with addition of a group of offshore wind turbines. I can’t help but feel a little sad but I guess that’s the price of progress. The final shoot this week was with Matilda. She is such a little character full of mischief and intrigue. The one thing I always try to do is capture the personality of children when they come into the studio. I also don’t heavily retouch images as I firmly believe that your images should look like who they are supposed to and not some warped version. It was great to have Bea back in the studio this week celebrating her second birthday. As a photographer I love taking photos, as a fat guy I hate having my photo taken, hence I always look miserable, that said sometimes you have to practice techniques on your own, this is from this morning when I was playing with a lighting technique, adjusting the sizes of slats in a box to create a slatted effect. That's one of the great things about photography, you never stop learning. No Hash Tags today!

Christmas microshoots started today and I have to admit I am slightly disappointed by the take up. But this whole running a business is a learning curve. The main thing is those who did book enjoyed themselves and some great feedback has been received.
