facebook.comThank you to all our clients who have enthusiastically embraced the new online booking system. We started using Glofox on March 1st and after a few teething problems, all seems to be going well. For those of you who use a smartphone you can download the App for either iOS or Android operating systems from the respective stores.
The new booking system is up and running and the APP has now been configured for those who prefer the functionality of Smartphones. Download GLOFOX from the respective store (Google or Apple) and once downloaded select PRECISION FITNESS from the list of users. Log in using the same log in detail as for the website. You only need to do this once. Once configured you will receive your confirmation from the App and be able to view all of your upcoming bookings.
Not able to get to the Pilates studio but the benefits of the method are coming in handy. Glutes, obliques, quads and hamstrings all working hard. There is a good reason for the torso twists we do in class
The NEW BOOKING SYSTEM is available by clicking the BOOK NOW button on this page. This link will take you through to the Glofox website where classes can be booked. Those with prearranged bookings have been moved across from Bookwhen to Glofox and those with credits on their cards have similarly had these credits moved across. Moving forward, all future bookings can only be made by either using these pre-loaded credits, buying credits through the website or by paying for classes on an individual basis.
The ACTIVE ISOLATED STRETCHING class is now on the booking system as well as a further tranche of regular classes prior to our moving across to the new booking arrangement
COMMENCING Wednesday 21st February at 11 am, an ACTIVE STRETCH CLASS: A full body stretch session using the Active Isolated Stretching technique (AIS). It is a dynamic stretching method which works with the body's physiological make up to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscles and fascia. It will develop flexibility movement and body strength.
PILATES - A NICE STRETCH? I hear Pilates described in this way so often. I think most people mean well when they utter them and perhaps some Pilates teachers are guilty of selling their sessions in such a way. To do so though is to miss the point of pilates. That’s not to say there isn’t a place for gentle Pilates based movement, but don’t confuse it with the authentic work of Joseph Pilates Pilates is a fitness discipline, which when performed with concentration, strength and full body awareness is a tough energy sapping exercise system. It requires all over body strength and control. The focus is the powerhouse (i.e. glutes, inner thighs and abdominal muscles), but from this strong base the whole body is worked, range of movement is developed, muscle balance challenged and body transformation achieved. The original movements are gymnastic in nature and when performed in their entirety require tremendous strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and stamina. When we talk about stretch as many of the exercises have the word in their title (single leg stretch, double leg stretch, spine stretch) we should not confuse it with a gentle, passive release. The focus is a stretch in opposition, sometimes referred to as a two way stretch. In this ‘stretch’ one part, or indeed several parts, of the body contract and pull in one direction whilst others lengthen and move in the opposite direction. It’s dynamic in nature increasing muscle strength and tone and improving fascial recoil, enabling you to move greater grace and freedom. In its fullest form Pilates compares well with gymnastics and callisthenics as one of the toughest bodyweight exercise disciplines. Of course it’s not just the preserve of such athletes, it’s open to all fitness levels. All the movements can be broken down to make them available without losing their original purpose. We have all the various pieces of Pilates apparatus which enable people to develop strength, movement range and body control whilst they discover that deep muscle connection which is at the heart of the method. Even so, it should be a challenge, it should develop people, it should make them more functionally fit. Pilates is not meant to be an hours break or a class to fit in after a proper workout elsewhere. At least it shouldn’t be!
