While Charlie with his fruit and veg 🍇 🍅 and Mandy with her plants 🌱 will still be there on a Thursday and Charlie again on a Saturday as a group of traders we are taking over the running of the market. You will see that this page becomes more active, more advertising, more competitions and trader profiles. Please bear with us while we do things behind the scenes. We are working as fast as we can! ***NEWS*** from Bishop Auckland Market While Durham Markets’ involvement in managing Bishop Auckland Market came to an end at the close of 2017, we’re delighted to announce that there’s a bright future for Bishop Auckland Outdoor Market. A group of traders have formed a cooperative and are planning to take over the running of the Outdoor Thursday Market in Bishop Auckland Market Place. Their passion for the market has been evident throughout the last year, and we’re thrilled that their commitment will drive the next step for Bishop Auckland Market, a step which aims to see the market continue to thrive and grow, as the investment in Bishop Auckland and the developments around Bishop Auckland Castle continue in the coming years. Everyone at Durham Markets wants to thank the traders and the public for their support in the last year, and wishes the Bishop Auckland Market Traders’ Cooperative a bright and prosperous future. The Cooperative is planning to relaunch the market from around Easter - until then a smaller market will be present each Thursday in the Market Place. The Committee members of the new Co-operative would be delighted to hear from any traders interested in joining the market.
