Just 10 mins from the centre of Birkenhead, the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum has one of the best art collections in the North West of England. The Williamson Art Gallery and Museum is a family friendly space with changing contemporary exhibitions and collections reflecting the local heritage with an active education programme and supportive Friends charity, it is a "little" municipal art gallery (although has 14 galleries) that is rapidly gaining lots of attention for its community feel as well as the works on show.
There are several independent businesses housed within the space - an art supply shop, a second hand and new bookshop and cafe as well as the artisan craft and design shop run by the Wirral Museums Service Team.

facebook.comOn the evening of Thursday, April the 5th, we are discussing crime novels. From the act to the investigation, from the criminals to the investigators, from Agatha to Zygmunt. Come and share your thoughts, have a hot meal and a glass of wine and an enjoyable couple of hours with like-minded folk. Books & Banter is a book club that is not a book club. It is an opportunity to sit down and talk about books. The discussion is facilitated but not restricted and tangents are welcomed. Hot and cold food is available from 6pm from The Williamson Cafe and with talking and sharing planned to start from 7pm with last orders being taken at 8.30pm. Please note the cafe takes cash only. Oxton Books, our independent bookshop will be open throughout the evening. Please be considerate of our neighbours when parking (our car park can get filled quickly as there are other functions on in the gallery at the same time), alternatively carpool with friends, use public transport or walk if you are able.

Don't forget we've got the Sketcher's Arms on 15 February - who knows what will come up from the basement this month!!
Books & Banter will be taking a break in March as we have the wonderful Carol-Anne Duffy with us. We'll be back in April talking about crime writing in all its manifestations. Save the date.
