What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar Fasciitis, which is inflammation of the soft tissue across the sole of the foot, is not just prevalent in sports people and athletes. It is very commonly seen in our practice towards the back end of the summer after people wear flip flops and sandals through the summer months. This type of footwear often gives no support to the arches of the foot which can be a contributory factor towards this painful condition. This condition usually requires treatment. If left it can last for many many months. https://www.sports-health.com/sports-injuries/ankle-and-foot-injuries/what-plantar-fasciitis

The simplest and most effective calf stretch. Remember, a tight muscle is a result of another muscle not doing its job properly. Stretching, for the most part is just a temporary fix. The cause of that tightness needs to be addressed in order for it to ease long term.

Cervical Degenerative Disc Disease Video

Discs degenerate for a number of reasons however, rest assured faulty postural habits and the subsequent faulty movement patterns that develop as a result will enhance the onset of this condition. In my practice in the past 2 years I'm even seeing more and more teenagers with neck pain due to faulty posture and the constant use of mobiles/tablets etc. Regular Sports Therapy treatment can go along way to preventing such degeneration and help reduce the symptoms created if you already suffer with this pathology. At Billericay Sports Therapy we use a technique called 'be activated' to bring the body back to normal functional and hence normal movement patterns. It creates a noticeable change in posture and therefore will reduce your risk of injury and degeneration.

Congratulations also to Alice Brown, another client of Billericay Sports Therapy who has gone through a series of muscle 'activation' treatments in the past few weeks. A gold medal and a combined 6 seconds knocked off of her PB in the under 15's 800m race and a gold in the Discus which now places her ranking at 6th in the UK.

All of the conditions in this image are common but all of these conditions can potentially be helped with regards to the pain and restriction in movement experienced via manipulation, massage, and most importantly, activation of all the muscles of the Spine and pelvic girdle. All of these methods of treatment can increase core stability which will increase movement and create stability. All of these methods of treatment are offered at Billericay Sports Therapy.

At Billericay Sports Therapy we use the revolutionary 'Be Activated' philosophy of treatment. The results can be incredible from reduced chronic pain, to improved sports performance. And the great thing is, you can learn and administer the activations your self. Philosophy of Activation: Our body has two priorities for survival; to breathe and to move – and without both – we will die! Our body finds ways to meet those priorities, and it’s willing to sacrifice anything else in order to do this. An aligned body functions in a 1-2-3 sequence. But these compensations put us at risk. Our body’s ability to overcome the stresses and pressures of life can result in reduced movement and exercise. Measurable reductions in strength, power, flexibility and endurance often occur, leaving our bodies less resilient, and at risk of poor performance, pain and dysfunction, both in the way we move and the way we behave. If you experience a traumatic event or injury, you’ll notice the slow and gradual decline in function and performance. These compensations then get tired, and eventually break. The result, at best, is a loss of energy. At worst constant chronic pain and reduced function. It is almost inevitable nowadays – for everyone. However, it’s equally simple to reverse when you really honour what your body needs to function correctly. The Be Activated system starts by testing what your body is doing now, so that changes can be clearly measured. This is done by simple muscle resistance, strength and flexibility tests. The next step is to activate the body to breathe correctly (nearly everyone still gets this wrong.) Once the first priority is being met effectively, we run through the body’s sequencing patterns, testing and activating, so muscles and structures can return to their correct patterns – they start doing their own job, rather than someone else’s. Then the body and brain can integrate and allow you to work effectively and efficiently. A stress-free body can go back to working at full capacity, with full energy. It’s all done using Activations which can be used safely and immediately, in any setting.
