Tapeley Park is a stately home and gardens, with sweeping views over the North Devon coast. A living estate that combines history with sustainability.  The gardens are now closed to the public until March 2018.

Tapeley Park, with its grand designs and sweeping views, is characterised by stunning scenery and a real sense of history.

The Tapeley Park estate, as it appears now, was established in the 1800s, when the house and gardens were given a neo-classical make over by then lady of the house, Lady Rosamund.

The visionary tradition has been continued by her great grandson, Hector Christie, who has been championing the importance of organic food long before it became an established feature on grocery shop shelves.

The beauty of the Tapeley landscape comes from the age of the estate. It's 'old' gardens, which include landcsaped Italian Terraces and a Victorian era lake situated in a tranquil wooded ravine, project a majesty that only time can bring.

Tapeley is a place where the past sits happily beside the present. Privately owned, its grounds also house a range of sustainability projects, from a straw bale house to one of the oldest permaculture gardens in the UK.

Remember this whopper?! For our Autumn competitition, we asked visitors to Tapeley (and the Facebook page) to guess the weight. The correct answer was 43 kilos, which is 6.7 stone (or almost a third of the weight of an adult male Giant Panda...) Anyway, not bad for a pumpkin, and not bad for Jenny Oakley from Braunton who guessed closest and so wins two free tickets to Tapeley for next season. Well done and please do get in touch to claim your prize!
