Bit of news in the expansion front. I've agreed to take on the new unit being built next door. Building it as one unit instead of 2 smaller ones. So it will give us about 70-80% more floor space. Therapy room for Unique Soft Tissue Therapy. Personal Training room. 2 toilets!!! Plus a few extra bits of kit that we don't have at the moment. This all allows the box to keep growing but still keeping that lovely personal touch that you receive at the moment 👍😂 Looking at moving in 1st August. Workout of the day 01/08/2017 Pick something up and move it next door.

Day 30 Rich Cutler I have been training at Wyre Forest Crossfit for around six and half years now: at first with Phil and then sessions with both Phil and Joe. I was directed to Crossfit by the US-based Mountain Athlete owner, Rob Shaul, when I enquired about starting his programmes. At the time there were 2 certified Crossfit trainers in the UK – one in London and the other, luckily, in Bewdley. My aim at the time was to get back alpine climbing after a long stretch living and working abroad. Learning any new skill in your early to mid-40’s is a big ask and Crossfit demands of us all that we focus on and learn many new skills and movements. In the process I am sure that I have not only invented a few new ways to do things but also challenged Phil and Joe’s teaching skills to the maximum. But they are always unfailingly supportive and positive in their approach to what can seem to be, and often is, an intimidating scene of weights and kettlebells, kips and tabatas, EMOM’s and AMRAP’s. And I often approach Bewdley with a knot in my stomach and a hope that there will be no wallballs. But I keep on coming back, week in and week out and the reasons for this are many: I am stronger now than at any time since my late 20’s, in the last 4 or 5 years I have climbed routes as hard as anything I managed as a kid, I am more aware and appreciative of my health, training and diet now than I have ever been and I have never been injured as a result of any training session. And I have made some friends into the bargain

Day 29 Paul (yeah my heads gone a bit) Metti My name is Paul Metti I'm 48, overweight and training in CrossFit. My brother introduced CrossFit to me about 4 years ago. Previously I had been training in TaeKwonDo for 10 years or so. But after a major injury (achilles rupture) I stopped training and put on 5 to 6 stone. At this time I had a bout of Depression. My Consultant said I needed to exercise to help with the depression. So my brother said have a go at CrossFit and I've been training with Phil ever since. I didn't need to worry about size or being unfit. The training is scaled to ability and adjusted for any previous injury. All the movements are shown and explained for correct movement and form. Each session is different to the last and you are encouraged to get to the end of it. If I was going to the gym on my own I would never get as far through it as I do at CrossFit. I feel I'm on a more even keel with going to CrossFit twice a week. Sometimes I find it hard to push myself to go but when there I feel so much better, and even better when your leaving.

Day 28 Jenny (serious training when back from uni) Plumbley If you had asked 16 year old me if I would take part in any kind of sport or fitness, the answer would’ve been “no”. Sports were not, and still aren’t, my thing. My Dad had joined CrossFit three weeks before my Mum declared she wanted to have a go. Next thing I knew, I was being dragged along as well at 7.30am on a Sunday morning with them. I’m not a physically strong or fit person. When I first started, I was lifting a 2kg kettlebell and a plastic pipe. I have a knee deformity and a dodgy hip. I was constantly trapping nerves. CrossFit has helped me to build strength to manage it. Almost six years on, I’m still here and able to do a lot more than lift a piece of plastic and a 2kg weight. I’m definitely not the strongest or the fittest at the box. No one cares what your able to do. Everyone is encouraging and supportive, and every little achievement is celebrated. I’ve met some wonderful people and become part of a community I would never have imagined being a part of.

Day 27 Sue Pearson I was the child who never got picked for a team, could not throw or catch well and couldn't run.so I avoided all sport. Very early on and was relegated to the edge of everything.I found all arty things in life and was luckily not prone to weight gain or illnesses. After the age of 50 I did try circuits and the regular gym but the night I sat in my car outside for the whole hour without even going in to the class made me realise I wasn't doing this for me. Yes, going made me feel good because I ticked the 'making an effort box' but I didn't change shape, loose weight or feel stronger. At the age of 63 I was happy enough but had minor health scares and it was my youngest son and Crossfit enthusiast who said you need to do something Mum to keep you well and keep you mobile. That was the week I did my first negative press up.( just really dropping to the carpet) but that was the START OF THE REST OF MY LIFE as they say. Three years on and I go several times a week. I have lost a stone and three dress sizes. I am stronger, happier, love my new sleeker shape and am wearing my Biba bikini this year instead of my plain swimsuit. To a woman that really is an achievement. In all honesty it does work, the members are all encouraging, do NOT show off, make me feel part of the team for the first time in 66 years and I feel strong and always in control. CROSSFIT GIVES YOU A LIFE, IT MAKES PEOPLE SHINE AND STRIVE TO BE BETTER EVERY DAY it is really not hard to handle just come and see-you WILL surprise yourself

Day 26 Colin (Col/Pol/CCLin) Pearson. Crossfit is more than just a gym and helps you get fit for other sports. It is a sport in its own right and it does definintly work as you will become stronger .I've been doing Crossfit with Phil and Joe since the early days and know it works well with other sports. It is tough, but never boring, it is a serious sport but always fun with the coaches and other members being very supportive. The sessions are structured in such a way that each one feels fresh with a definite goal for each member. You are expected / encouraged to finish each workout but the time you take depends on your fitness level and finishing always gives a big sense of achievement.Wyre Forest box is a fun friendly place with a fantastic atmosphere but very focuses on each individual. Fitness level or don't really matter as Phil and Joe make sure that each workout suits each individual your improvement is gradual and safe. There is a really good social side to the gym with events throughout the year and some members entering competitions regularly that we all support. My goal before I'm 70 (next year) is to do a muscle up. Not sure it's going to happen but I'm very hopeful!.Finally seeing my non-sporty wife Sue working on her pull ups and ring dips is very special and probably one of Crossfit's greatest achievements.
