With magnificent views over the town,river and distant Holy Island, Bambrough Castle and the Cheviot Hills,Megs Mount is a town destination that is not to be missed.

The Loovre was built in 1899 as a Public Convenience before being converted into a store for street cleaning equipment by the local council. The building fell into disrepair and its surrounding land became unsightly before the owner of the business recognised the potential of the building as a provider of a resting place for tourists and walkers; a place where they could enjoy a drink or ice cream before resuming their stroll.

With the help of the Berwick Preservation Trust the building was restored to its former beauty in April 2014 and is now a meeting place for locals and tourists alike.

The locals flock to enjoy the range of local farm produced Doddingtons ice cream and tourists soon realise why it is probably the best in the country.

Pop in to admire the building and sit down in the sunshine to enjoy a break.
