Godfrey's Ear: Quality painted furniture and specialising in Ercol
Description
Quality hand-painted furniture, and specialising in Ercol Hello, I’m Caroline.
I live in a small picturesque village just a few miles outside the lovely market town of Belper in Derbyshire, sharing my home with a varied collection of pets including my husband James.
I am passionate about interiors, and had the wonderful experience of training in interior design at KLC School of Design in London.
At the beginning of my timeline you can read the story of Godfrey’s Ear. I took inspiration from other wooden animals that I had seen covered in beautiful floral papers; although I initially considered treating myself to one, the thought then hit me: I could transform Godfrey and save money at the same time!
Inspired by giving Godfrey his new lease of life, I decided to start rescuing old, tired and unwanted furniture, so that it too could have a chance to be re-loved. And that is how my little business came to be.
To me, each item of furniture has its own character, so when painting each piece I like to choose the colour and finish to suit its personality and to complement today’s interiors.
I use and stock Chalk Paint from the Olde Englishe Emporium in Matlock and wax for protection. I take my inspiration from nature, earth tones, and natural fabrics. Godfrey of course is an exception to this rule as he is rather flamboyant.
