CATS PROTECTION BELFAST
Description
Open 6 days a week, 11am-3.30pm (closed Wed)
270 Belfast Road, Dundonald. BT16 1UE.
T: 02890 480 202 E: belfast@cats.org.uk W: www.belfast.cats.org.uk Prior to adoption; a representative of Cats Protection will call out to your home, at a time that is convenient for you, to complete a simple, short questionnaire. You will be able to ask any questions regarding cat care at this time. After the home visit has been completed and approved; you will be free to call in to the centre at any stage to adopt your perfect feline companion. Home visits can be arranged at the adoption centre reception, over the telephone or via email.
An adoption fee of £60 per cat is charged. This fee goes somewhat towards the care the cat has already received while at the adoption centre. On average the Belfast Adoption Centre spends approximately £150 - £200 on each cat in its care. Cats Protection does not receive funding from any government or lottery bodies and therefore relies on donations from the kind public and adopters to allow us to continue the vital work that we do.
All adopted cats will have received the following treatments:
- A thorough veterinary examination
- Have received at least their 1st vaccination
- Treated for worms and fleas
- Neutered (if old enough)
- Microchipped
Adopters will also receive 4 weeks free insurance from Petplan upon adoption.

facebook.comMeet Tuna! Tuna is a 4-year-old female; She had a loving home but unfortunately came to the Cat’s Protection because of her owner’s poor health. Tuna is a loving gal and is on the lookout for an equally loving home. She is a stunning monochrome moggie with an independent cattitute. Tuna likes to do her own thing, but she occasionally seeks out affection and can be a little fussy if she wants a cuddle! Do you have a cat friendly environment that would allow Tuna to be top cat and have the freedom to come and go as she pleases?
Ziggy-Zig-Ah! 4yr old Ziggy had a loving home but sadly didn’t take too kindly to the loud and unusual noises of a newborn baby! She’s now on the hunt for continued peace and home where she can fully relax in. #AdoptMe #ShareToHome This friendly feline would best suit a mature and calm household, which allows her to shut her eyes and snooze. She’s an affectionate furry little ginger but she’s also happy to take herself away to embark on a long chill session. If you’re looking for a chillaxing buddy that will sit by your side as you watch the world go by, then Ziggy is your girl! Please come to our centre to meet zen-like Ziggy. She’s as cool as a cucumber.
The Belfast Adoption Centre would like to say a massive 'thank you' to Julie-Ann and the rest of the Mortgages Team from Santander Belfast. 😽 Julie-Ann and the team volunteered for a day at the Belfast Adoption Centre to help us with some much needed Spring cleaning. It was a pleasure to host the team and we would welcome them back at any stage - thanks for all the hard work guys! 😸👍
We all love a bit of a diva and Spooks is no exception! This beautiful little 6yr old lives up to the notorious tortoiseshell cattitude but she does offer out her softer and affectionate side from time to time! #AdoptMe #ShareToHome Spooks was relinquished into the Belfast Adoption Centre’s care when her last owners could sadly no longer care for her. Spooks is an independent lady that doesn’t appreciate the company of her fellow felines and enjoys being the top (and only) cat of the household. Spooks does like some affection from her human companions (as long as this doesn’t spoil her tough-girl torti image in front of the other cats!). Could you offer Spooks a loving and understanding roost to rule? If you can, please come up to our centre to meet Spooks!
You’ll be hard-pressed to find such a gorgeous yet strong kitty this lunchtime! Meet Alba, a 10-month-old female who has a beautiful temperament but has very much been through the wars. #AdoptMe #ShareToHome When Alba was first rescued she was in a very sorry state indeed! She had an extremely nasty, infected wound below her right foreleg, caused by an incorrectly fitted, non-safety collar. Alba’s wound was to such an extent that we didn’t initially know if she was going to make it or not. However, with painstaking wound care from Cats Protection’s vets and staff, Alba has made a miraculous full recovery and is a much happier cat now. Alba would make a super companion to any would-be adopters out there! This lovely girl has the potential to make your house a real home. Please come to meet Alba face to face at the Belfast Adoption Centre if you feel that you’ve got just the home for her! P.S. Alba’s story is a stark reminder to all cat owners to remember to only use quick release, safety collars on their cats to prevent such horrific injuries!
Interaction! #CatCare #CatFacts #DidYouKnow that most cats like brief, low-intensity interaction - quite frequently! When cats that get along greet each other, it tends to be a brief head rub. Unfortunately, humans are the opposite! Our interactions are generally less frequent, but when we have them, they are often of high intensity and prolonged. This can sometimes be a source of confusion between cats and their owners. Even when touching a calm, relaxed cat, there are many places on the body that are quite vulnerable or sensitive. As a general rule, many cats don’t like to be touched in these places: • Belly • Paws • Under Legs - i.e armpits • Legs - back legs Learning to understand your cat by paying attention their body language is a fascinating part of having a cat. What's more, it can help to improve the relationship between you!

Meet Papo and Pipa! This independent brother/sister duo is 6 months old. Papo and Pipa came into the Cat’s Protection because their last owner had unforeseen circumstances and could no longer care for them. Although they are siblings, Papo and Pipa have agreed to disagree and go their separate ways! They don’t see eye to eye so a separate home is the best way forward! The pair is therefor seeking a home of their own where each can be top cat. Brotherly and sisterly love, eh?!
Meet Shakira and Speedy! This 5 year old and 4 year old little mother/daughter duo came into the Cat’s Protection after their owner sadly passed away. Shakira is the mother and was sadly neglected and worse for wear when she arrived, so we had to give her a bit of a haircut and a good groom to remove some uncomfortable matts she had in her coat. She’s feeling much better and is ready to find a new home for her and her daughter! The pair is very close and can often be found piled on top of one another having a nice snuggle!
Food! #CatCare #CatFacts If you’re looking to adopt or you’ve just welcomed a furry friend into your family, then you have options when it comes to choosing the right type of food for your cat! ✔️ Dry food is a practical choice for most owners, as it can be left out all day and can be beneficial for your cat’s teeth and gums. ✔️ Wet food is normally available in tins or pouches and offers more variety in flavours, which can be more appealing to a fussy eater! ❌ If your cat has a medical condition that requires an increase in water intake, then a vet might suggest avoiding dry foods and to stick to wet food only! 🤔 If your cat’s able to eat dry food, then how about spicing things up a bit by using feeding balls. Feeding balls look to lessen the boredom of eating from a bowl… as well as providing more exercise too!
Meet this lovely guy Archie! Archie is a 3 y/o male who has been with Cat’s Protection since his previous owner sadly had to go into care due to declining health. Archie is a beautiful tabby fellow who can be a little shy at first but he shows lots of affection once you have gained his trust. We would love to find him a new home with an equally loving and affectionate family! He really does deserve a second chance in life.
